You got me pegged. 
Bankroll management and being cautious about moving up in stakes were big factors in being able to make a modest living out of it. Back then ITM was reached at much lower blind levels on average than they are now.
I was never successful at cash games - should have checked out your articles back when I tried them years ago... would have definitely saved me $. Luckily I didn't donk off too much in them.
