    Default Bankroll question...

I have recently started a bank roll at 30 dollars, i know this doesnt sound like much, but im a college student and im broke so it was all i could muster...ive turnd this into 230 within a week...i found a really soft game that runs 5 times a week, typically about 700 in the pot, 2 tables, min buy in 20, etc, based on my play i see no reason i cant take away atleast 50 a night playing tight and getting ok card, 100+ if im hot, my basic question is i would like to keep some of this as profit but keep adding to my role, whats a good number to get my role to before i start taking from it and whats a good percentage of my winnings i should keep if i hit that number, so i can take a bad run of a week or two...thanks alot

It depends on the stakes of your game and what game you are playing. A pretty average recommendation is to have at least three hundred times the big bet or 600 times the Big Blind in order to be properly bankrolled at whatever level you play at, if you are playing a game with structured limits. I would build to a bankroll of this size before taking any profits out. This gives you an excellent cushion for bad beats and cold streaks.

Once you get bankrolled at this level I would double/half. Everytime I double what my bankroll is, take out half of the profits. This allows you to take profits while continuing to build a roll. I would experiment with this once you get a big enough roll to support whatever level you play at and see how it works for you.

Don't try to dodge bad luck by doing too much profit taking. Be prepared for it by being properly bankrolled.

my br is 800 right now, i like playing in .25/.50 rooms. i'm just waiting for neteller to get all confirmed and stuff before i withdraw 500 dollars. i feel comfortable playing in a .25/.50 room with 300, i don't think there's any way in a million year's i'd swing 6 buy-ins down. if i did i'd probably quit poker anyway.

Yesterday I lost two buy-ins in one hand when my set of 8s met a set of queens... it can happen fast.
