Bankroll Management
F&F: Excuse the rhetorical diction.
One of my first posts on this site indicated that I haven't yet begun playing real money online. This still holds true.
Two nights ago I couldn't sleep. @ 6am I decided that I was going to make a living playing Texas Hold'em online. I am still without any experience playing online for real money, but I believe that this is a feat that is attainable in my future. After much review of many of the recent posts on many of the great threads in the strategies forum, I have concluded that there are two ways to live off of Real Money Texas Hold'em online (or anywhere for that matter): Skill, and Money Management.
I have never budgeted my money in any way in my life, and this has become a burden on me ever since I flew away on my own two wings just over a year ago.
So, two nights ago, I pulled out a sheet of paper and pen and started budgeting for the next week, next pay period, until the end of 2005. I figured that the only way to perfect my online money management, is to be able to do it at least outside of the WWW. If I stick to the plan, I can have a few things paid off and the option to buy a laptop by the end of January (I post on FTR from work, I am getting paid as a type!!!! ).
If I puchase a laptop within the next 3 or so months, I will know that I am on my way towards the high life.
How though, should I manage my money online?
This is my strategy for 2006:
Begin with a $100 bankroll.
Play on $.05 .10 tables until I double my bankroll.
Play on $.10 .25 tables until I triple my bankroll.
Play on $.25 .50 tables until I quadrouple my bankroll.
and so on.
Using no more than %10 of my bankroll at any given time.
How does this strategy sound to you?
