    Default Bankroll Management 102

Okay, now that you're playing the proper stakes (10 X max buyin for NL, 300BB+ for limit), it is muy critical that you not pass up on the free money that's available through bonuses. And the most important way you can be prepared for this is

keep $500 in Neteller at all times. I just made the parlous mistake of having money scattered around my site accounts -- two of which I hadn't played in weeks. Ick. This cost me est. $110 in bonuses that I can't catch because I was unprepared.

Now, I'm a small stakes player and a $100 difference in this week's take would be delicious. And opportunities like this pop up damn near twice a month. Get organized and seize them. That is all.

second that. i've missed bonuses for the same reason.

i think it makes a lot of sense to keep most of your roll in neteller, and then siphon it into your poker accounts as needed. if you are playing $1/$2, you don't really need the full 300BB ($600) in your party account. you can just put $300 in party and leave the other $300 in neteller. should you experience a downswing, it only takes 10 seconds to transfer more money from neteller to party.

this way, you can play on several sites at the same stakes, fully bankrolled for the limit you're playing, but only putting a partial bankroll into each site.

i also think the sites with the most lucrative bonuses tend to be the sketchiest, so it is probably in your best interest to keep as little of your money in their possession as possible, for the least amount of time possible. neteller, on the other hand, is a publicly traded company with extremely good security measures and a high level of trustworthiness, so you can park your money there with confidence.

I know what you mean. Whenever there are bonuses that match up to a certain amount it is nice to have that max amount available...

apparently the "sketchy" sites are not the only ones you need to be wary of... if you believe the rumor mill, the party skins are systematically shutting down duplicative accounts of bonus whores, seizing assets in the process, without so much as an explanation. they claim their terms and conditions allow this.

this is some scary shit. i've already cashed out all my party skin accounts (except one) and parked the money safely in neteller.

Might sound like a dumb question, but is it possible to bonus whore by playing SnGs? I know the rake structure is different, but my SnG game is much better than my ring game, to the point that I would be fairly confident in saying I would lose more in the ring games than I got back in bonus.

Some poker sites allow you to get points towards clearing a bonus for playing in SNGs. If you play a $10+1 you get a certain amount of points from your $1 of rake payed to play in the tournament. This is the only rake that is taken (tournament fee), so it's the only time this is possible.

A lot of the sites I play only allow rake to be taken from cash games.

    Every site is different, though.

In fact there are spots where it's advantageous to do so; take the stars' bonuses:

FPP are awarded 5Xany tourney fee you pay -- and they round UP. So if you play 2 $5+.5 SNGs in an hour instead of one $10 you get 6 FPP instead of 5.

Itty bitty free pieces of FPPs add up in time. This is assuming you can beat the fivers handily

I take it then you would have to 4-table SnGs constantly to have any shot at a bonus at the lower SnGs.

At Poker Stars the bonus never expires and you have as much time as you like to clear it. This is offset by the fact that the bonuses they offer are so infrequent.
I built my own poker table... Check It Out

I usually stack 'em 3 deep, starting each one after one has been runnig 15 mins or so. Am able to turn 10-12 FPP/hr that way.

You should take advantage of Bodog.

    Nope.

Not if he's in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Light years ahead of the competition.

Pacific -- they run their bonuses like a casino, with Wagering Requirements. And their 10+1 SNG's count 10 towards your WR, (5+.50 counts 5, etc.) but you have to track it yourself.

And Stars -- the only reasonable way to clear their bonus at low level is SNG's.
    I'm a know-it-all.

    No, really.
