Default Average expected bb/100 per stake

Just curious what the average expected bb/100 (big blinds/100) hands is for each stake of NL full ring holdem. I tried searching the forums but didn't find anything. I want to know so I know what to aim for as I move up stakes. Thanks.

Um, anything below 10 or 25nl is probably 5ptbb/100+ easily.
After that I'm not really too sure. I think 4ptbb/100 wouldn't be too much to hope for at 50nl-100nl.

People seriously get 8 big blinds per hundred hands at 50-100nl? Can these stakes be multi-tabled?

Yes lol. On pokerstars you can do up to 24 tables.

    I get 12bb/100 at 25NL so I don't see why 8bb/100 at 50NL and 100NL shouldn't be doable.

    My thinking was...

    12bb/100 at 25NL
    10bb/100 at 50NL
    8bb/100 at 100NL
    6bb/100 at 200NL
    4bb/100 at 400NL
    3bb/100 at 600NL
    2bb/100 at 1000NL and 2000NL

    ideas?

I think you're being a bit optimistic Heavy with that.

I'm at 12BB/100 right now for $2NL (or 24 big blinds) but that's only after 6000 hands, hardly any. Once you hit the 500000 mark I think it'll drop down considerably. But because no one stays at that level for that long it's really hard to tell.

I can't comment on any of the others as I haven't experienced them much yet but everyone else can weigh in.

bb = big blinds BB = big bets

I'm talking in bb not BB. I have played over 20k hands at 25NL so far for 12bb/100 hands. I'm more curious as to what a good bb/100 is for the higher stakes...

At 200nl FR, I'm netting around 3ptbb/100. I'm sure more is possible, but it will take a decent amount of work to attain.

Good deal stacks. 6bb/100 at 200NL was exactly what I was thinking would be a good winrate.

Can't wait till I have the roll to play those stakes. I'm just about ready to move up to 50NL. Played over 20k hands at 25NL and only need about $150 to reach my bankroll for 50NL. Hopefully by next week!

Would you say that 25 buy ins is a good goal for each stake, or is there a lot more variance as you move up in stakes? For example at 100NL using 30 buy ins, and 200NL using 35 etc...

I think most people are going to want more BI's as they move up in stakes. Like I'm going to move up to 25nl at 20 BI's but that will be the last time I do so. I'm going to be pretty nitty with my BR requirements after that. I won't be taking a shot at 50nl until 1500-2000. Probly 4k for 100nl. And 10k for 200nl. These are obviously very far away, but o wells.

Wow dranger that seems extremely nitty but I guess if that's the only way you're comfortable to play then thats your choice.

I just think that if I'm beating a limit for a good amount and have at least 25 buy ins for the next limit i'm gonna take a shot. I can't imagine one step higher in limits is going to change play that drastically compared the the limit just played. Stepping up 2-3 limits I'm sure is pretty drastic though but nobody does that anyways at once. Plus if you're keeping yourself at lower limits longer you're missing out on making more money. I think there's a point where being too nitty may take forever to move up in stakes and hurt you. That's just how I feel about it though.

your BRM nitiness should be a function of how comfortable you are at beating the stakes in question, and how comfortable you are with the swings at those stakes.

The swings are higher in tougher, more aggressive games. I personally found the 50NL -> 100NL transition fairly easy, and went with a 20BI rule for both. I tried 200NL with 25BI last year and failed miserably 3 times. There was definitely tilt involved. I recently moved up again with 40BI and found it far more comfortable with that padding because the daily swings can easily be +-1k and when I had my first -1k day with a 10kish roll it didn't affect me even close to how it did when my roll was 5k.

It's a personal thing, just try to be honest with yourself when determining your own comfort level, and don't underestimate the psychological value of having a fat BR behind as a cushion for a rough fall.

Nope, that's pretty standard. And most people have even more. At some point you want to be in a position where a bad swing can't knock you down one level.
And at a decent winrate and average volume, 15 more BI are just one month of play, so why not play one more month and be on the safe side.

Yea its nitty, but I'm ok with it. It's going to take me a while to move up starting at 100nl anyways, because I'll be withdrawing from my roll regularly by then (hopefully).

100 buyins for the stakes I'm playing right now. However, given the next stakes up, the table selection is pretty shitty imo. And I still don't feel quite comfortable there yet.

But want to talk about nitty? Go talk to Kfuse from the irc channel... Damn Kfuse, move up already!!

Read the entire thread - and especially read the long post by Robb, this will give you some insight on why what seems like nitty bankroll management at higher levels is standard.

Thanks for the link Micro. That thread is great! I recommend anyone else who hasn't read it to check it out.
