am i forced to make a huge bet (which in this case was my stack) in this position? i cant afford to give free cards but by betting im assuming im even ahead. the made straight could very well be smooth calling but because of my position i cant check.

Why is your stack the size of 1.5 x pot?

I think you just bet it and hope for a board pair. If you meet major resistance, you might be able to fold ... but the money would have to be deep. If you meet minor resistance, you call and again hope for the board pair.

To answer the original question, if you stack is 1.5 x pot: Yes, you are destined to put your stack in and possibly lose it here.
