Default AKo vs relatively unknown player

After 11 hands this villain has 0/0/NA since joining the table. Because he was yet to play a hand i just cold called the raise (i guess i should have raised to ~0.25). WHen he reraises me on the flop i think he would have TT,KK,AA,AK ? did i give the guy too much respect here?

My default play preflop would be to 3-bet and stack off with AK since most of the time you're going to be getting called by a lot of hands you're ahead of, and you're probably going to be ahead or even with his stacking off range on average.

As for the flop, put him on a range and decide if your equity against that range allows you to make a +EV call on the flop.

Should i always be trying to get it all in pre flop?

I thought you were supposed to be careful with AK, because its dominated by AA,KK and about 45/55 underdog to QQ-22. And generally if someones raising/reraising pre flop they are gonna have these hands (AA-TT) or you'll be splitting with AK.

The pot is 2.38 and it costs us 1.55 to call. The pot odds are 1.55:2.38 which is about 1:1.5. We need 40% equity to call.

Our equity against the range that OP proposed (AA, KK, TT, AK) is 26% making it an easy fold.

But this range is probably too tight. And adding only a small number of hands we beat (QQ and JJ or KQ and KJ, even if at the same time also adding KT and 88) immediately gives us equity above 40%.

well it should be a "default" because people will fold a lot to your 3b so you make money
and if they call your 3b with hands like AQ, AJ, KQ then you make money by making top pair and stacking them

and then there's the A4s 4b tilt shove...

anyway, if you don't feel right about felting this on the flop, don't raise the flop, just call
