AK vs. Shortys

when facing a standard raise pre-flop from a shorty (like in the 30-40BB area) while you hold AK what is your standard line? do you just put them AI PF and hope a full stack doesn't tag along? do you re-raise a normal amount like 3x? do you call and look to put them AI on the flop if you hit? i'm having trouble deciding how to handle these guys. assume the shorty is your average unpredictable and desperate kind.

I almost always treat AK like it's the nuts against these guys unless someone with a full stack is giving me a reason not to.

Also, you should be willing to get all-in against these guys on a lot of missed flops because they make a lot of desperation bluffs really often. Like, they'll raise to $1.5 at .25/.50, you'll bump it up to $5 and they'll call with something like QJ, and if the flop is all rags, they'll open-push for their last $10 ALL THE TIME. I almost always call them with AK in this situation because you have the best hand a whole lot and even if you don't, you can still suck out 25% of the time.

I like to reraise enough preflop where i am making them pot committed on the flop, but not enough to pot commit myself if the big stack tags along. Like mcatdog said they will then more often then not push the resy of their chips in on the flop, which is an easy call. So lets say im in the small blind with $200, BB has $450, and button has $65. Table folds to button, who raises to $8. I feel a nice raise here would be about $35. If big calls then im folding the flop if i miss and wont c-bet (pots too big imo). Im putting the shorty ai no matter what comes up.

Question: In this situation,if the big blind calls and button pushes all in, then what? Call, Raise, Fold?

Easy fold for me, I was ready to call the Shorty, then Big push by BB...

Eventhough I would have hit on the turn, too much to call Preflop.

Thats a good laydown. Big Slick is great if you're the aggressor, but when someone reraises you you've got to consider you're up against a strong pair. Although you would have won this pot, calling in this situation is -EV.
