    Default Aggression Factor

So I just started using PT. What's a good level of aggression factor? I know aggression is a good thing. Obviously if I'm nailing some flops it's going to get ramped up. I was just playing two tables last night and on one table I had a 2 and the other was up around 7. Is it out of 10?

Im opedipus bitch, the original balla.
AF is a hard thing to measure and understand accurately. It is affected by the villains preflop stats. That is an individual who is playing a tighter preflop range will generally have a higher AF, essentially because their later street ranges will be stronger.

For FR, most individuals have somewhere around a 3-3.5 AF I believe. I run a little bit more passive that that at like 2.8AF. It's just so profitable to calling individuals and outplay on later streets.

I think it really depends on the type of table you're playing at. On average though, I think a good range for the AF is between 2 and 4.

Get a good sample of hands in PT and then go to general stats and see what your average AF is.

Yea, it depends on what the villains vpip is. If he's running like 45/x and his AF is like 1.x hes probly pretty aggressive, even though standard aggression is ~2-3. If you have a tight range though, it can be anywhere from 2+. Mine is usually around 3-4, and if running hot 4-6.

Aggression factor is quite simply the ratio of the times you bet to the times you call.

So ann AggF of 1 means that you bet just as often as you call. >1 means you bet more than you call and <1 means you call more than you bet.

No other factors go into this calculation (to my knowledge)

What others have said is also true though. Consider two different villans both with an aggression factor of 2, meaning they bet twice as often as they call

One has 50% VPIP, the other has 5%.

With the first, when he bets, you don't have to give him much respect, but when Mr. 5% bets, GTFO!

It's known to be a stat that tries to do too much, but there are very useful things you can do with it.

Unless you're playing against hudbots (rare at micros, if that's where you play) you can get away with cbetting like a monkey and run a 6+ AF without worrying about exploitation.

If you find an opponent with >6 AF tho, you can assume they've got a much weaker range when betting post flop.

If you find someone with <1 AF, they're probably a calling station.
    Check out my self-deprecation here!
