To add to the confusion some sites allow "more than max" buyins. For some reason it's been completely standard for online poker rooms to have a buyin limit of 100 big blinds. The max buyin has become the term that indicates what level you're playing - maybe it just sounds cooler to say you play ($)25nl than it does to say that the big blind in your game is 25 cents. |
