    Default 25NL 2 Hands

Hand1- Op in this hand is running 24/15/1.7 over 550 hands. His 3BET is 6.5%. I can't recall any significant history with him, but in this particular session he was very active pre-flop and had 3BET me a couple times previously and I had folded. This is a spot I tend to have trouble with in knowing what to do, ie calling a 3BET pre-flop with 2 big cards and flopping top pair. His CBET was very high and I knew he would fire regardless of the flop, so I called. Now what do I do when he fires again? His double barrel was pretty much instant and I just didn't feel like folding so with only $7 more behind I shoved. What are some thoughts on spots like these?

    BB ($32.79)
    Hero (UTG) ($26.85)
    Button ($25)
    MP ($28.07)
    SB ($25)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K, Q
Hero raises $1, 2 folds, SB raises $3.40, 1 fold, Hero calls $2.50

    Flop: ($7.25) 9, Q, 9 (2 players)
SB bets $4.50, Hero calls $4.50

    Turn: ($16.25) 5 (2 players)
SB bets $10, Hero raises to $18.85 (All-In)

Hand2- Op in this hand is running 24/6/3.6 over 139 hands. His 3BET is 6.5%. No reads otherwise. Should I have checked behind on the flop with 3 players in the pot? Bet larger on the turn, pot sized? Do I check behind on the river or bet for value?

    UTG ($28.76)
    SB ($22.69)
    BB ($25)
    Hero (Button) ($40.06)
    MP ($35.68)
    CO ($7.66)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 10, 10
UTG calls $0.25, 2 folds, Hero raises $1.25, SB calls $1.15, 1 fold, UTG calls $1

    Flop: ($4) J, K, 4 (3 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $3, SB calls $3, 1 fold

    Turn: ($10) 10 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $7, SB calls $7

    River: ($24) A (2 players)
    SB checks, Hero ??

So the beginners circle has no thoughts on these two hands!? C'mon, give me the good, bad and the ugly!

H1 I like how you played it. You typed him as being aggressive (perhaps overly so) and you have a solid hand here. I play 10NL but I probably stack off on the turn here as well.

H2- You pretty much analyzed it correctly. Check flop imo. Pot turn, and I prolly just check river b/c getting raised here is really terrible.
    Ich grolle nicht...

IMO the reason you are having trouble with theses hands is because your opponents know you way better than you know them. (At least in hand 1). 550 hands and you don't have even one note on him on how he played even 1 hand? Sometimes that is all it takes. 1 note - 1 hand.

Certainly a good point, and I've noticed this myself. I definitely play on autopilot more than I'm aware of I think. I tend to pay very close attention to what's happening in the hands I'm involved in but am not very good at observing folded hands, especially when I fold garbage preflop. I've been making more of a conscious effort to watch hands I'm not a part of more carefully.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

No problem. I used to do the same thing myself (probably still do but I'm more aware of the problem now), then once I was playing and I realized that I had no reads on somone I've played with for roughly 400 hands (got into a tricky spot against him and had not a single note). I checked my PT database and I'm at a net loss against that player. I immedately shut my computer down and wrote "I will pay the fuck attention" out on four lined sheets of paper. This happened just a couple weeks ago, ever since I've been reminding myself (and others) to do it because it will make a difference. By paying attention I can suck at poker and still win monies because I know what that jackass to my right is limp/calling my raises with that I have notes on. Makes things easier on the bankroll.

Hope this was inspiring to you. Paying attention can be seriously tough when you're just looking at a screen and a bunch of avatars. But I'm sure doing it will seriously pay off in the long run.

(I really need to get around to starting a blog/operation soon so I don't have to write stories in peoples threads ).

hahaha... maybe if I had the discipline to do something like that I'd be winning more money...

lol, I got the idea of writing out things like this from one of the writers in the poker strategy column, I just can't remember who atm. There are definately some good tips in there aside from 'fold this hand, raise this one' etc. At first it feels like a complete waste of time and a ticket to the ER for carpal tunnel syndrome, but in the end I felt like it was worth it.

check the flop on hand two. pot the turn with that lovely card. and obv check behind river because we can't call anything but like a check min raise

Yes, that is what I did. I wasn't sure it was the right play, thanks for the advice.
