8 hands means you have no stats on villain as they are completely meaningless. So you're stacking with jj against an unknown. I mean this would be fine against some players but against an unknown I hate it. Villain bet more than the pot on the turn. Do you see him doing this with tt or worse? I don't. Fold the turn imo.

I felt villain was being a little too aggressive to be playing for value, I thought it looked like he was betting scared, trying to just take the pot down. Maybe with something like 77-TT, that's how I felt during hand anyway.

Obviously he is an unknown so could be way off.

    Villain is not that unknown:
    - he is not full stacked
    - he open limps
    - 50/25 even over 8 hands already means something most of the time

    So, looks fishy to me.

    Range? Say:
    77(6)
    88(6)
TT (6) although he most likely raises TT pre

    A4(8)
    99(3)
    66(3)
    45s(2)
    34s(2)
    64s(1)
    44(1)
+ maybe some random slow played AA

Not looking too good, I think it's a fold ott.

edit: actually even without TT you still have a surprising 38.5% equity which is about what you need to break even when you take rake into account. However, since there is some doubt he does that with 77 or 88, I still fold.

    agreed

The ratio of VPIP/PFR is quite telling. Though it would be nice if you had more hands on Villain, this is a good early indicator of passive/aggressive style. This is usually indicative of a passive villain when the fraction is less than ~2/3, as with this villain. When passive players suddenly get active, step aside unless you have a monster.

Also, when someone is unknown, assume their hand is stronger than you hope. Keep yourself out of trouble while you establish your reads.

I'd probably raise to $0.30 pre-flop (offering less than 2:1 to the first caller) and C-bet closer to 1/2 pot OTF (low-mid board that missed almost all of the Ax suited hands means that callers probably wont be on draws ).

50/25 over 8 hands is not particularly telling. Look at.your own stats after 8 hands on a bunch of tables and see what weird ass stats you show relative to longer term averages.

ya at 5nl it's just so easy for an unknown villain to have so many hands that we're ahead of. i think you played it fine.

I don't know why we are calling the flop if we are getting it in. I raise this flop a lot and see 88-TT or random Ax broadways.
