Default [5NL] AQo on button. TPTK on mono flop, 3 way. River decision and line check.

    SB - 16/12/4 through 394 hands. Fold to cbet 20%, 1/5.

MP - 23/17/4 through 538 hands. Fold to 3bet 78%, 14/18. 86% cbet, 24/28. Not many notes on villain, so prob a 5NL reg. Had seen him raise to 6xbb in MP, after UTG limped, with JJ.

Only notes I had on SB was that he generally auto c/f his blinds if he has nothing, so we can assume he has some sort of hand.

    PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    Hero (BTN): $6.87
    SB: $5.00
    BB: $5.07
    UTG: $6.47
    MP: $10.07
    CO: $5.45

SB posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.07) Hero has Q A

fold, MP raises to $0.24, fold, Hero calls $0.24, SB calls $0.22, fold

    Flop: ($0.77, 3 players) Q 7 8
SB checks, MP bets $0.44, Hero calls $0.44, SB calls $0.44

    Turn: ($2.09, 3 players) T
SB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $1.25, SB calls $1.25, fold

    River: ($4.59, 2 players) 3
    SB checks, Hero ???

SB generally didn't like folding to cbets. However, when he c/c on the turn, I don't know what he could have?

He could be c/c with Adx or Kdx, would he do this with 77-88, QQ? Seems too tight to have anything else? Are there any hands in villain's range that I could bet for value on the river or is it best to just check behind?

Definitely 3-bettting AQo PRE against most villains. It's not quite strong enough to fall in to the "call behind to play my best hands in position" mode that I go in to when villains fold way too much to 3-bets. So 3-betting for value PRE is gonna happen unless I really, really expect one of the blinds to do it for me, in which case I want to call/raise. Much of the value in AQo comes from semi-bluffing PRE.

As played, it's fine. I'd never bet this river. I expect to see a few baby flushes and a lot of hands that Hero out-kicks. I don't think you'll get any more value from b/f.

Villain is 16/12 and opened to almost 5x and you want to 3b for value?
    Or is sb 16/12?
I think villain can certainly have some Qx, or mebbe JJd I'd like to go for a little bit of value but I can see chking back if you don't think villain sucks

Apologies, villain is SB. Updated OP for MP stats.

I probably play AQ more cautiously than most, one of my least favourite hands.

I would check back this river, but bet a bit bigger on the turn ($1.50ish maybe).

If villain doesn't raise 5x as standard i muck this pre-flop.

There is no note about bet-sizing, so I went with 5x as standard.

I'm of the opinion that you're ahead of his calling range on the turn (lots more draws, lower chance of bigger pair) and probably behind it on the river. We're talking about this hand in the FTR Chat Room right now. Here's a link to join, you don't have to download anything: FTR CHAT ROOM
