Default [40bb] Session review with Eupho

I hope someone reads this, as I explain my thought process in every hand, and I could really use thoughts on them. Theres not a whole lot of in-depth stuff to cover here and no real brutal hard decisions to make, so you can skim these pretty quick. Please do.

I obviously deleted the original text file so I cant look up stats on people, so I guess we'll assume villains are all unknowns. It probably doesn't really matter much, our hands really play themselves a lot.

Note: This is every hand (except a few that i missed, i know theres like three) that I shoved my stack in. Not all of them went to showdown, but the majority certainly did.

    Hand #1

I usually just bet and hope to get called here on the turn. But I think a c/rai is better. If he's a bluffer, let him bluff. If hes calling lightly, he'll bet when he hit. Its obvious he doesnt have the Q, so I gotta give him rope to hang himself.

River is interesting. A slightly under half-pot bet which I'm not sure I like as it looks too much like I'm begging for a call. Of course at this point villain either has a hand and he'll call or he doesnt and he folds. So I should probably make a real bet. It worked out, though

Standard. Villain rarely has a J, he *might* have an 8, but he's in the SB. More likely he was calling drawing near dead on the flop hoping to bluff me off my hand. Which is retarded because I have no money behind, but they do it *A LOT* anyway. But with a 3rd J up there gig is up. Might have been better to c/rai? Thoughts?

This is a standard move for me, supported by the math which you can find in one of Fnords posts about Stack-to-Pot ratios (might be in the halfstacking thread, now I cant remember) so anyway you'll see this shove a lot. Basically if my stack is 2x pot on the flop (and i tailor my bet sizes so that it is) I will shove with overcards into one opponent particularly when the board is dry and I expect to have a bit of folding equity.

I hate AJ. A lot. In *theory*, I'm winning due to the fundamental theory of poker (if you look at his hand at the bottom you can see villain should have reraised me pre, because he just won't flop a hand very often) so I think this is +EV for me. In theory when villain misses here I take the pot, and he misses a huge % of the time.

Blind steals and blind defense are *tough* *tought* *tough* short stacked. You have no folding equity, and villains tend to play back at you a LOT. I think I'm failing miserably at them. In any case, on the turn villains play just doesnt make much sense to me, so I go. I was wrong, sorta. His play really did make no sense.

super standard.Note the 5x PFR, which is my standard PFR.Note that villains are still set camping me even though I have no money behind and they have no implied odds.. It sucks when they hit, but i firmly believe I'm making a lot of money off of the huge numbers of set farming microstakers. Theres just tons of them and they are -EV against me. Its gotta be +EV for me then

Standard. I get in some interesting spots with pocket pairs that probably border on -EV. I really need to think on. If I have a 40bb stack... can I really call a 4x PFR? Its exactly 10x, and I'm 8:1 to flop a set... but do I get paid enough? I think I do... maybe.. IDK. Spots like this where I limp after a limper are +EV, until someone raises after me. And then I probably start taking the worst of it, and it becomes a question of how much overlay there is. IDK. Maybe I'm leakinghere. Thoughts?

Shitty spot. If I had KQ this would be an insta insta insta call. But KT is pretty bad. I figure since the board is drawish, villains play seems overtly strong like he really wants me to fold, that this is OK. I dont think I can ever really fold top pair against the blinds. It just seems like a bad idea because people seem to love to play chicken in blind situations, and as fnord said, I've thrown out the steering wheel.

    Hand #21

This doesnt really need to be here, but for sake of completeness. I wasnt AI, villain was. Note again shitty players trying to set camp me, then throwing good money after bad. Holla.

    Hand #22

Blind steals and I just do not get along. This one worked out for me, and I'm thankful the guy only minraised me pre. Any larger and i think I have to fold. IDK. I really need help in blind steal / defense situations, so if someone has words of wisdom, please share.

And more super standard. I'm not sure my 3bet shove is the greatest, but I figure villain might be drawing on this wet board, and I dont want to give him a free cheap ride when shitty players seem to LOVE to pay too much for draws. So shoveadoodles it is.

Hand 1: River is only important street here imo. I think it's fine, albeit I'd likely play a larger bet on the river.

Hand 2: I feel rather uncertain about this one. I don't know of any better hands we push off of a hand with our turn bet, so maybe check and consider a call on the river?

    Hand 3: Standard I think.

Hand 4: Theorem not theory. Standard I think also.

    Hand 5: Easy call.

    Hand 6: Again, easy call.

Hand 7: Call > shove here I think.

Hand 8: As played I fold to raise on turn. Nothing makes this raise that you beat imo. Personally I'd value bet flop.

    Hand 9: Standard

    Hand 10: Standard

    Hand 11: Standard

Hand 12: Dunno why you even post some of these

Hand 13: Standard -- you're correct about the turn

Hand 14: Standard wtf I'm bored

Hand 15: If I counted it right, you're getting slightly over 12:1 on your stack and current pot which makes the call fine against this raise out of the blinds I think. P.S. It's 7.5:1, not 8:1 :P

    Hand 16: Standard

    Hand 17: Standard

    Hand 18: I couldn't find a fold here.

Hand 19: Easy call given the pot size.

    Hand 20: Brag

Hand 21: Another easy lame AA hand

    Hand 22: Standard

    Hand 23: Standard

Hand 2: Why can't villain have (and call with) a small/mid pair?

hand 1: bet turn. as played river bet size is fine.
    hand 2: looks fine.
hand 3: horrible raise preflop, i'd rather do it with 65s.
    hand 4: standard
    hand 5: standard
hand 6: standard only cuz you're so short
    hand 7: standard
    hand 8: cbet.
    hand 9: 3bet preflop.
    hand 10: standard.
    hand 11: standard.
    hand 12: meh
    hand 13: i like
    hand 14: standard
hand 15: raise preflop. rest standard
hand 16: standard only cuz you're so short
hand 17: standard only cuz you're so short
hand 18: reads would be helpful here.
hand 19: standard only cuz you're so short
hand 20: why did you even post this hand?
    hand 21: or this one?
hand 22: looks ok, i call the flop cbet a lot and go from there.

euph, you should really post some hands where you DON'T get it all in. as a short stack, when all the money goes in the middle, you're never really that far behind once you take ranges vs ranges and stacks vs stacks.

you should filter for pots where it was around 20-30bb and see how you do there.

8: Bet the flop and call a shove.
    9: Not standard
12: I shove the turn, I think your bet sizes are tipping hand strength too often.
13: I would shove the turn here as well
