Default [2NL] TT...Set on turn. Wet board

Villain is 11/8/2 over 185 hands. This was the first time he had donked a flop. Nothing else really of note on villain, which after 185 hands leads me to believe he is super nitty and has never gotten out of line.

    PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    BTN: $2.00
    SB: $0.80
    BB: $2.00
    UTG: $5.07
    Hero (CO): $3.04

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has A T

fold, Hero raises to $0.06, fold, fold, BB calls $0.04

    Flop: ($0.13, 2 players) T 9 8
BB bets $0.12, Hero calls $0.12

    Turn: ($0.37, 2 players) T
BB bets $0.26, Hero raises to $0.52, BB raises to $1.22, Hero ???

Can we ever put this super nit on JJ-AA? Is he overplaying his overpair or does he have me crushed with 88/99. I am not sure whether JQ is in his range, even though he is in BB, just seems way too nitty to play that hand OOP?

Pretty sure if he's got any sense he would 3b at least KK-AA preflop, and probably QQ as well. It's hard to put him on anything but a flopped set. Maybe JJ/QQ who reads you as a draw on the wet flop, but if he is such a nit, with JJ, he should fear your turn raise when the second T appears. He looks like the kind who doesn't stack off without the nuts.

I think I don't raise the turn and just call and re-eval river. What was your reason for raising?

    As played I think it's a fold.

As I explained in the other thread, your hand here is trips not a set. Looks like you've got these two mixed up.

Why all the nit-picking? The "set" or "trips" thing is mildly useful when someone knows it, but it's not that common. I hear 3 of-a-kind called a "set of trips" all the time both live and by TV announcers (Mike Sexton, e.g.).

The use of either word can not have confused you to the point of misunderstanding. I don't think I'm giving you too much credit there as being a guy who can figure things out.

I am not nitpicking or confused. Just pointing out the correct definitions to help (as per FTR's own poker dictionary, and others).

I was also interchanging both terms until someone (Spoon?) corrected me and I was grateful for it. I didn't call him a nitpicker for it...

    fold vs the flop donk
probably best not to minraise too often postflop.
as played call turn unless you can name more hands he calls a raise with than you can name nut hands he can have.
