[2NL] JJ OOP, facing 3bet ( 2 opponents )

    Default [2NL] JJ OOP, facing 3bet ( 2 opponents )

Quite early on, inside 12 hands.

UTG was 25/8 and had folded to the one time he had been 3bet.

This was the first hand in 12 that MP decided to get involved in. So absolutely nothing on him.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB ($3.15)
    Hero (BB) ($2)
    UTG ($5)
    MP ($2.19)
    CO ($4.69)
    Button ($0.55)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J, J
UTG bets $0.06, MP raises to $0.26, 3 folds, Hero ???

Can I call here and re-evaluate on flop or is it a shove/fold situation?

I know it's early in the session, but using what you do know about your opponents (25/8 for UTG and 0/0 in 12 for MP), what possible hands do you think that both of them are holding?

I really struggle putting people on ranges. This is my biggest flaw, if I had to hazard a guess I think that UTG could possibly have A9+, KQ+ or any PP.

MP I would put on AQ+ & TT+. Probably way off here but having a shot.

imo, it's best to assume someone is not a retard until they prove it..so...
1st hand in 12 that MP has decided to play....looks like a possible nit that just 3bet an UTG...I would put him on QQ+, AK and maybe AQs.

Do you have possitional stats on the UTG?

Edit: I just re-read your answer that I quoted. A 25/8 normally won't open KQ and small pp from UTG. Supa recommended in another thread for you to use stove to help with your ranges. This is one of the places it'll help. Set up stove to show you the top 8% of hands and then realize that this guy has only raised 8% of hands as an avarage of all positions; prolly a lot less from UTG.
Take a look at that 8% in stove and see how it changes your idea of the UTGs holdings.

Do you have pokerstove? If not download it and get used to using it, will help your game immensely.

Ranges look ok, probably AJ+ instead of A9+. A lot of players at micros never 3bet AQ/TT/JJ.

OK, so it's probably right to fold? Especially with UTG still to act behind us?

Edit - @Hoopy - Yeah I have Pokerstove, find it really hard remembering all the %'s though haha

Good chance MP has QQ+, AK exclusively.

I'd recommend you apply this to your own game. I know i do.

I'd never shove in this spot, if your shoving for value, what worse hands are going to call? If your shoving as a bluff what better hands are folding?

The run of the mill 2nl players aren't opening wide utg or 3betting utg opens wide either. my range for an unknown utg at 2nl if i just sat would be AJ+ 22-AA and when MP 3bets i'd put him on QQ+ AK.

    Definitely fold.

The only way you'll remember the %s is by, when posting this hand, assigning people ranges, putting them into Pokerstove, and then seeing what it says. THEN put that information in the first post and ask if people agree with your ranges. Simple

Yeah I have been doing that lately, it was more just as a sign to say I have read the reply and appreciate the advice.

Yeah this is a reluctant fold for me too.
