    Default Why short stack limit?

I see this happen a lot at Stud 8 games at Pokerstars and Bodogva.

Often 40% of players buy in for 5 BB. They are paying antes and brings so have to move soon. This is at relatively high stakes like $2/4.

Sometimes they draw the tits in a multiway pot and have to sit there while it goes c/c.

Plenty of people don't even remotely understand how bad it is for their BR to chase 1/2 a pot in Hi/Lo games, so they don't understand how they're going broke when they're "winning" so often. This perpetuates their belief that it is more about luck than skill.

Also, people are prone to do illogical things which are frequently counter-productive to their stated goals.

My guess is that these together lead them to treat Hi/Lo games like slot machines.

Then again, there is the Theory of Poker argument.

If you were able to have a stack size of just the ante, in an 8 handed game you're getting 8-1 on your money with your random hand all the way to 7th street. All the while the number of opponents (who must call bets to continue getting cards) fold their hands which still have equity.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.
