Default Newbie Question on AC Poker rooms

    Hi,

New to the board and first off let me say awesome forum. Great information here. Now to my question.

Tomorrow I will be partaking in a trip to AC as a work trip. Its one of those bus trips that go down. Anyway, I want to play some hold em and I am planning on going to ceasars and play in the 1/2NL game. My question is I have a very limited and I mean very limited 50.00 bank roll for this. Is there a minimum buy in? Im not taking more with me because I will have very limited time to play and I will just end up wasting it somewhere if I do. I am just concerned that 50 wont be enough if they have a minimum buy in.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Any reason you are against playing a smaller level?
Never played B&M but is 1/2NL the smallest stakes offered?

From what I can find yes 1/2 is the lowest offered. Then 2/4 and then 3/6 from what I can see

$50 at a 1/2NL table would be interesting to say the least. It's like sitting down at a 50NL table with $5 or $10. Find a hand and push basically.

The lowest stakes NL I've seen at a casino is 1/2 & 2/4. The minimum buy in is usually $100 on those tables. Even then, that's only (1) 20 stack of reds ($5 chips). Depending on the players at the table, I've played where the typical raise is $10-15 pre-flop, them raising with marginal hands.

If you only have $50 to invest, you wouldn't be able to miss a lot of flops before you bust. I'd probably look to camp on a limit table (3/6 or 2/4).

    $0.02

Why would playing at a LHE table, where blinds are higher, be a better idea?

Well, on the limit table your talking about a $3 BB. Assuming you camped and waited for premium hands, that's 16 flops you get to see compared to a NL table, where you would probably only get to see 4-8. Pots on a limit table (with $3 BB) are usually at least $30+ so if you can take down a few pots, you'll have a decent stack to play with for awhile.

    -OR-

On a budget, I'll set a goal. Buy in for $40 on a limit table ... if I get over $150, or even $100 playing limit, I'll pick up and sit down no a NL table or omaha table. Don't underestimate a limit table though, I've been over $400 buying in for $40.

Where I play, min buyin for 1/2 NL is $20. That being said, buying in for so little is ... yeah a bad idea, lol. I hate sitting there with any less than $200.

If you have to buyin with just $50, you're definitely push/folding. Or any hand you play, you are fully expecting that all your chips are going in the middle. So if you get QQ and you raise instead of push, you should be assuming that you'll be all-in at some point in the hand.

Makes more sense, but the whole practice is ridiculous. I used to watch these rocks buyin for 40$, lose, and repeat for hours. In the 6-ish months I dealt poker I never once saw someone win with a starting stack of 40$.

i can't believe nobody has pointed out the fact that this guy has no business entering a casino with a $50 bankroll. FTR is about learning how to make money, and buying into a game that you cannot afford is a surefire way to go broke FAST. do a search on "bankroll management" and educate yourself on how many bets you need to play at a given limit without busting out. why the heck would you go to a.c. with $50 anyway? that's barely the cost of the bus ride and meals for a day. you will have better odds of winning by putting the entire stack on red at the roulette table. seriously.
