    Default How was this played?

This morning I was playing a limit game at UB. I'm dealt AQs. I raise preflop and there are two other callers. Flop is Q94 two suited (not my suit). I bet, one folds, one calls. Turn is Q. I bet the other folds. I don't think he would have bet, otherwise I would have check-raised. Checking would have given him a free card and possibly hitting the flush, if that's what he was after, on the river. I think my bet was appropriate due to the 2 suits on the flop, what do you all think?

I think the play was a good one. If you camp out and give him a free chance to beat you, you stand to lose a pot with at least 9 big bets in it. If you check and he doesn't get his card, he probably doesn't call your bet on the river anyway.

If you check and he does get his card, you almost have to call, so you stand to lose another big bet there.

So even without getting into outs and probability you stand to lose ten big bets to win nothing.

This ignores the possibility that he does bet after you check, say he had a small pair. Thats where knowing your opposition comes into play. If he was a habitual flush drawer, I think you did right.
