How do you play this hand, (heartbreaker warning)

Ok, I get dealt As,Js,Jd,10d -- a pretty good Omaha hand as far as I know... I raise preflop, and face a reraise and 4 see the flop... Flop comes 7s-9s-Jc...

I bet out the pot, and get raised. I decide to go all-in. Sure enough he has a made straight and I miss my 9 spade outs for the nut flush, and the board doesnt pair to give me the full house... Also, an 8 would give me the same straight he had for a split pot...

How do you play a hand like this? I had a ton of outs on the flop. Actually, according to the Omaha calculator on Cardplayer, I was 66% to win after the flop.

So, I guess after typing it out I see I played it right I think, but since I could see I was most likely up against a made straight, should I have played it less aggressively?

Your play was fundementally sound. You put all the money in as a winning investment and it just didn't pay off. Let the cards fall how they may.

Not much to say there, I wouldnt have played it any other way, you were drawing to a nut flush, had top set, and a possble boat.

I think your play was to agressive, you raised preflop, then you got reraised (that means he got a VERY strong hand),and there is a 3 straight on the table and you only have one pair, you should just have called,even though you got a nice flush draw, there is allways a chance you dont hit that last spade, your hand isnt so very good as you think, you only have one ace, many outs is great but I wouldn't have gone all-in with it, if someone reraise it usually means they got a set, they usually wont reraise on a draw.

Not really, the way people play Omaha is much different then holdem, a reraise can be a much larger variety of hands, plus you also have more possibilities to make hands. Your play was sound, you had numerous outs for a variety of hands that could beat hit. Top set is always a good bet with a board that isn't flushed. Cards didn't drop your way this time , do it again and again, you'll win

I agree it was a fundamentally sound play there. Assuming the other player was holding only 1 8 and no other spades, 9's or 7's, that meant you had 2 chances to hit 3 8's, 8 spades (including the 8), 3 9's, and 3 7's. That's 14 scoop outs and 3 split outs, giving you 17 outs twice. That makes you a 60% favorite in the hand. Monster.
