how often do you get to the final table?

Just a curious question to the more experienced and hopefully better MTT players. What percentage of the time do you get to the final table and get a "real profit", it would also be helpful to show the number of entries in these MTTs.

How much harder would it be to get to the final table in a tournament with 3000 entries rather than one with 800 and another with only 140 providing the skill level is around the same?

Over all the sites I make the FT about 3.5% of the time.

I make the top three about 1.5%.

This is over a sample of about 1000 tourneys and my average field size is close to 1000 players.

I'm glad you saked the question, cuz although I knew I hadn't played that many tourneys, I didn't realize it was that few. I hope to play closer to 1500 this year.

I know a lot of the bigger name pros (Rizen, soupie, etc) get to the FT like once every other day or close to it. Depends on the entrants and ability though.

jeff is right but you also have to realize the context. If you were to play 10 tourneys a day, you would need a 5% FT rate to make one FT every other.

Also these guys get a lot of their FTs on smaller field tourneys (200-300 players) on sites like UB (not that there's anything wrong with that - in fact I think I need to start diversifying more too).

The best players make it about 5% of the time afaik
