    Default Hand from $1000 GTD premium freeroll on PKR

    The situation (don't have HH with me):

    Blinds: 1500/3000, last 15 people in tournament. Best prices are top 5.

    Hero just trippled stack from 7330 to 22000 (went AI with 88 UTG, 2 callers 8's held up (10 handed table)).
    Playing ranges from all players were kinda big.
    New player comes to my right (this player saw my pocket 8's win).

    I am the big blind and I receive 55. All people fold, small blind with a 60000 stack raises to 14000.

    Do you shove, call or fold with pocket fives?

    Thanks for any input,
    C_S

    I would personally wait to fight with a better hand, if he has 66+ you are hosed and even if he has two overs, its not a place where I would gamble being in the bb. Thats just me though, I would like to hear others response as well.

    fold. You have fold equity if you push in future hands with that stack. Pushing with ATC next time you are folded to is a lot better.

    I don't mind playing 55 against a random hand, I don't mind folding and shoving a random hand.

    yeah so 5's are 60% against random - but is this guy gonna just raise with a random hand... last 15?????? Easy fold - even if he's bullying... if he keeps raising you every BB then I would push back eventually with 55 but not 1st time.
    Ship it holla!

    if you don't raise ATC if you are the SB, you play really bad poker.

    I'd call but I don't mind a fold. Donks are not raising atc there. You're probably folding a bit of cEv but future Ev might very well be higher.

    equity win tie
    Hand 0: 54.122% 53.65% 00.48% { 55 }
    Hand 1: 45.878% 45.40% 00.48% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, QTs+, JTs, A2o+, K2o+, QTo+, JTo }

    equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 51.914% 51.39% 00.53% { 55 }
    Hand 1: 48.086% 47.56% 00.53% { 22+, A2s+, KTs+, A2o+, KTo+ }

    There is no way you call here.... stack is 22000, raise is to 14000. Certainly you're not calling to try for your set? Obviously you don't have fold equity either... if you push you are getting called. At this point it comes down to what you're trying to do. Personally I'm going for first, so I push and hope for the coinflip.

    It's tough to say 'donks are not raising atc there' either. Depending on heros image, SB could be raising 32o.

    With a 3 to 4M stack, a pair, and 15% of your chips in the pot, how can you fold?

    His donk overbet from the sb also argues strongly for a call as he is probably weak, very, very few low limit players would play a big hand that way. He probably has something like a2 or k9.

    Some players would call and push the flop no matter what and others push preflop, I have endlessly discussed both ideas and I dont think it matters much. Just do one or the other.

    yup. "folding and waiting for a better opportunity" is a crock here - this is about as good of an opportunity as you will get with this M.

    There is no way I'm folding here with this size of a stack and this hand. Too good of a situation.

    Thanks for all of your replies, giving me some new food for thought!

    For those who want to know what happened, I pushed, and got called by A5o who made and ace on the flop and turn.
