    Default FTR HU tourney

Who would be interested in an FTR HU tourney? That other forum is doing it and to me it seems like a really cool idea and will hopefully lead to interesting strategy discussions around some of the hands. Basic idea is to start with a group of players and then you have knockout rounds until there is only one man left standing. Probably best out of 3 matches. $5 SNGs on PS. The tournament will probably last around a week or two and players will have two days per round to find a time to play their matches.

    Post if you are interested.

I am SO in on this one - maybe we can just organise a private HU MTT on PokerStars.

Dwarf can we organise a private HU MTT? This would be good too although I feel the best out of 3 games per match gives you less of a crapshoot.

if we manage to get decent numbers and/or a private tourney then is there any chance of running a few over a period of time. A lot of people post on the forums about HU play and i think the idea would be a popular one

edit: im up for whipping dmans ass.

HU play will definitely improve your hand reading skills and your ability to adjust to different styles so this will be +EV for all involved Im looking for about 16-40 people here...

I'd love the experience... but I suppose you bastards want to play for meaningful amounts of money?...

    Damn this BR!!!!

What type of buy-in we talking here?
So you click their picture and then you get their money?
  11. #11
$5+.5 buy ins. That way the whole tournament cant set you back more than about $15 no matter how far you go. (You need to win to advance so you only end up almost freerolling after the first round).

Is it possible to organize a HU MTT on PokerStars?

    Either way, I'm in.

I'm interested. Dependent on scheduling (i.e. if we do it on a week like this week, where I have ZERO time to play, I'm out; if I can make the time, I'm in).

    Now thats commitment!

Where are all the hotshots? I can't believe we havent even reached 10 players yet.

could we possibly just make a bracket, and all the players plan their games seperately?

That's how I tried to do the chess tournament. Turned in to a nightmare, as people didn't finish because they "couldn't find a time where their schedules matched". I think this sort of thing will work out much better if we do it from start to finish in a relatively short amount of time - either knocking it out in one day, or doing a round (best of 3 matches?) per day at a set time.

Alright, lets set a deadline for signing up. Then make a list of people interested, then let people pick who they want to play (those who dont pick will be matched) then simply play. If a match doesnt happen by like friday, both people can be DQed.

As far as time issues.. couldn't it be something where... 1) you get a list of everyone interested, 2) you randomly assing players to a bracket system (or maybe even handicap it by level of SnGs most commonly played), 3) then it's up to the HU teams to make a time when they can play the tourneys. Once players decide on a time, it could be posted as well if people wanted to watch.

    How about this....

    4) After the matches, players could swap HH, you could merge them, and then post the HH with both players hole cards being shown... that way it would serve as a learning tool as well for people who wanted to watch the matches after the fact.

Also if we do this as a best of 3 kinda thing @ the same blind levels... the most you could lose is $10.50... Since if you lose the first two.. you are out.. no need to play the third, right? If you split the first two, then you'd be even (minus the rake) and would then only be losing $5 for your entry.

This sounds awesome... I'm not saying we have to do what I suggested, but I'll give it a shot no matter what!
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

We need to decide if we are going to play all the matches in one day or have rounds where players have a 2 or 3 days to complete their match in. I dont mind either way...

So if I'm too busy to play next week, whoever is unlucky enough to draw me gets screwed? I think the "find a time and play your match" plan has serious issues, but if that's what we want to do, I'll give it a go. We need to make sure that the "play time" includes a weekend.

FWIW, I would be up for doing this on a regular basis, say once a month. A great way to improve ITM play and lose some tightass habits.

I know it can be set up on Stars as a private tourney, and I like the idea of seeing it end the same day. If we make it a regular event, everyone gets another chance soon if they miss this one.

Any chance on squeezing one in this weekend?

I don't think all the matches need to occur on one day.

I think players should have a whole week to complete their matches. You should be able to find an hour or two somewhere to sit down with the other guy and throw some chips around.

And JGB has a good point, I guess if one person doesn't show up for a match they forfeit but the other person doesnt.

private HU mtt on stars would be so much easier than creating a bracket to keep track of everything. it would be much easier and could be done once every month or 2 months or so

If anyone else wants to play and\or wants to play a specific person in the first round let me know ASAP because I am going to be finalizing the list of players and matchups today. Players will have until Sunday to complete their matchups, if the two players can't schedule a time to play they need to contact me and I will make a judgement on who gets the points (who made the most effort to find a time slot). PM me the match results so I know who will be playing in the second round by Sunday.

So what is the recommended way to play the game. Cross fingers and hope we are able to sit down at the same table, or create a private table? I have no played at stars in over a year, so I'm not sure of the best method.

I am on Eastern Seaboard USA. Perhaps 9-10 PM tonite or any time Tuesday after 6PM.

Is it safe to consider me n PokerPat a match?

I don't see the reason for not letting people register up until the time the first round results have to be in, they will just have less time to complete their matches. Feel free to convince me otherwise.
