any thoughts on middle offsuit connectors

Currently I never play these period (from any position). the lowest offsuit connectors i play is J-10 from MP3 onwards if 3-4 people in the pot. Fold JQo early on.

but the $6-$12 game i play some days is very loose passive preflop and some days is very aggressive preflop.

If i am at a loose passive preflop table should i play 5-60, 6-7o, 7-8o etc from MP1 onwards and how many people at minimum would i need to have in the flop ?

am i giving up much by not playing middle offsuit connectors in pretty loose passive games full of chasers ?? You can make the assumption that i would proceed postflop only if i have flopped trips, a good oesd or 2 pair on a raggeddy board. but what is the ev of these kind of hands ?

At this type of table its probably about 0EV.

it seems to me that these hands should work well in limit, due to the fact that in multi-way pots you will normally be proceeding with pot odds?

you should probably show them down at least occasionally in order to represent a looser player, if in fact you feel uncomfortable playing non-paint.

I will play them from the SB after at least 4 limpers (1-2 Blind structure), maybe the button if it is an "all play". O.W., you lose too much by not having them suited IMO. If I am going to play them however, I would rather have 5-6o or 6-7o than 8-9o or 9-10o. With that many limpers, my one pair won't mean anything anyway, and if the higher connectors hit, there is a higher likelihood you will have the 2nd highest straight.

Yeah, I consider unsuited connectors to be junk most of the time at any position. If I do play them, they need to be suited. You give up a lot by not having the flush draw to back you up. Also, if you're anywhere from 56s - 9Ts, and only flop 1 pair with no draw, you're probably not going to win with what you have. Either by your pair being beat by the river, or you're outkicked. I'd call one small bet on the flop, and fold the turn without improving to 2 pair, trips, or a flush/str8 draw. But the danger of connectors is that if you catch 2 pair, you're almost always vulnerable to the straight, but it's tough to not call down with it. Not a good spot.

I only play them from late position (Button, CO) with at least 2 callers b4 me, and from then on i play them like one would play a weak pocket pair in NL (i.e., they are very easy to let go, even when in position)
