Today, technically is Pi Approximation Day but some people consider today the official (unofficial holiday) of Pi Day. The day was founded by Larry Shaw and it is a day for math geeks to be even geekier.
Pi Day is typically on March 14th, i.e. 3/14, which is close to the value of Pi (π) 3.1415926. But technically, today, 22/7 (European style) is an even closer value to Pi (π). Yea, 22⁄7 is one of the closer approximations to π.
