Default PTR Haxx0red? (change ur passwords ppl)

So yeah, I got this e-mail on Friday, not sure why this hasn't been addressed in this space as of yet.

Security Notice Regarding Your PTR Account

    Dear Valued PokerTableRatings.com Member,
We have reason to believe that PokerTableRatings.com has been targeted as part of a recent attack on poker websites. For your security we want to bring this matter to your attention. We have addressed the issue and are actively improving security on our servers to prevent future intrusions.

As a result of this malicious activity, user information for a minority of users may have been compromised. No credit card information is at risk as we use Authorize.net, a secure third party payment processor, to handle all of our member's credit card transactions.

PTR takes your security and privacy very seriously. Although passwords are encrypted, we highly recommend you change your password on your next visit to PokerTableRatings.com. The password can be changed on your "My PTR" page.
We deeply regret this has taken place and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We will continue to work diligently to protect your personal information.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

    Sincerely,
    The PTR Team

FWIW, the "My PTR" link directed me to the correct address on pokertableratings.com, so I don't think the e-mail itself is fishy. Anyhow. I'm pretty pissed because I used the same low-security pass for PTR as I do for several other sites which I can't really remember. I guess I'll have to find a new one. Meh

I wouldn't be convinced by this. I'm not 100% sure, but I think bogus links can be made to look like they're directed to a different address. I'd be concerned they didn't address you in the email by name. I'd advise people change their passowrds by typing the address into the browser manually, and navigating from there, rather than taking links from emails. That should apply to any email informing you of a security breach, asking you to change your password.

hm, well you got me all paranoid so I just went and checked the legit site to see what my password was, and it is correctly set to the new password I selected. Seems everything is ok

    appreciate the concern though

I'm always paranoid taking links from emails. I think it's a healthy paranoia.
