Let's talk about how awesome the Wii is...
To give a gamer's background. I had a Sega which was awesome, a playstation which was awesome, didn't really get into my PS2 at all and got behind N64 years after they stopped making games. I just love all the simple fun games with great gameplay. You'd be suprised how quickly you can dumb yourself down to even the worst graphics if the gameplay is at all good. I'm not really a huge gamer, but the wii has made me excited to just wake up in the morning and go play.
I would suggest buying 2 wiis and storing one so you can bust it out in 25 years to show it to your kids.
The only annoying part about the Wii is figuring how to activate the second controller for multiplayer games. (Press the little house button in the center of your wiimote, go to wiimote settings, click reconnect and follow the instructions.)
Gameplay in Wii Sports is awesome. I'm almost a pro at Wii Bowling (The best) and rock the house down at Wii Tennis. Wii Golf is also insanely fun and well made. Wii boxing can be tiring and kind of a one trick pony and I have no redemable comment about Wii baseball.
I got Redsteel, GT Pro (a racing game), Rayman and the Ravid Rabbids and Madden '07. They didn't have Zelda in stock, but im definitely going to get one tomorrow or friday.
Redsteel: FPS and samurai swordfighting game. FPS can be fun if your opponents are in a hallway or open room and arn't rushing at you. But you can easily lose yourself in a crowded firefight since your aim-er also moves the screen left and right. It's hard to excute nice clean turns and just start lighting some bitches up. The game saves itself with its swordfight which is simple and very very fun. It reminds me a lot of Bushido Blade for playstation but from first person perspective. 3/5
GT Pro: Just finished the Beginner's circuit. It's an alright game. If you love cars and racing, you may like it. I don't. It takes a little getting used to steering, but once you have it down the game is fun. Executing the perfect drift around a u-turn is so satisfying it should be illegal. Though, I've heard there are better racing games (Excite Truck) out there. 2/5
Rayman: Just a huge collection of mini-games. I've played 16 and only found 1 frustrating (since it just has a crazy time constraint.) But it has two re-occuring minigames that make this game completely worth it. An arcade style FPS where you only point and shoot, don't have to worry about looking left and right. And a rythmn game, where you shake your joysticks at the screen. Great game to demonstrate how cool the Wii is. 4/5
Madden: There is no better feeling than handing the ball off to Willie Parker, juking around the first would-be tackler, stiff-arming the next and then pumping my hands frantically to break the tackle and break the bank. Throwing is also cool, and defense is dumbed down enough for you to be effective. I've heard complaints about this game but I think it's great. 4/5
Now talk about other sweet games or future releases so I know what to buy.
Also, my mii looks exactly like me. That's cool.
