I actually watched that episode this week (I DVR all of them) and liked it so much I protected it so it wouldn't accidently get deleted.

I think with Dwan playing its gonna be a lot more interesting. He's so F***ING aggro its crazy.

Did you see him running people over on Poker After Dark a few weeks ago.... I think it was Brunson, Kaplan, and a few other online players he was up against.

Nah I've never watched poker after dark. I don't even know what channel its on lol. I very rarely watch TV, unless its House, Family Guy, something with poker or ESPN, and I've never really had the urge to look for it. Call it laziness I guess,

It's got some good match ups.... this week is Phil Laak, David Williams, Annie Duke, Andy Bloch, John Juanda, and Clonie Gowen
My favorites are when Helmuth and Matusow are in it. They always end up going at it about something.

Rofl, yea I'm pretty positive its just an act between those two. I know (well I don't KNOW ) that they are pretty good friends off the table (and away from the cameras.

    What station is PAD on?

It should be on piratebay.org pretty soon... they always take a little longer, but most of the torrents there are good, and they don't require you to log in.

I have high hopes for this season too. Season 4 was really meh... Every other hand Guy open limps, Jamie calls, and you could see the frustration of everyone to their right.

I'm rooting for Dwan too. I expected him to be more of a prick but he handles himself very well even with all the needling.

NBC surprisingly. I have to DVR it because it comes on at like 1:05 a.m. or something like that.

I liked the one where Helmuth and Dwan were next to each other. They had this bittersweet comradery going especially when they were sharing sushi. It was almost like father son relationship where half the time they were bitching at each other.

Dwan's got balls. Brunson was ragging on him for being so slow to act on HSP to which Dwan said "Yeah it would seem that way because you always see another player waiting on me because of how many hands I play and how much money I put in the pot. It WOULD seem that way to someone that folds every hand"

It's not only that. In the recent cash episodes Nets vs Vets it looked like none of the old timers wanted to be there. And the young'uns were boring as hell on tv. Cole South's super awkward conversation starters made it even worse.

But I still watch it because I have such a crush on Leeann Tweeden.

I like PAD alot. There isn't as much action, but the flip side is that you get to see a very high percentage of the total hands played. Not just the big pots and bluffs like every other poker show. Plus a SNG format is pretty sweet.

Yeah, I agree, it was a terrible line up. Souths convo staters were lol + he had a stupid look on his face about 99% of the time and the other two guys weren't exactly riveting personalities.

i'm waiting for zigmund to run his mouth some. isn't he known for that? also it'll be interesting to see if people start playing back at durrr. right now it looks like they're doing the usual counter strat to a lag, sit and wait for a good hand. but so far durr's hand reading has been flawless. he laughs at their silly traps

It's easy. Fund one of these freetrollers to play him HU. You can't stop them from taking over your roll with crazy random play, you can only hope to contain them.

Durrr (god, his eyebrows still tilt me) can beat anyone with half a brain. Therefore, the trick is to get someone with no brain to play him.

Did you see the look of shock on Durr's face they folded? I think they were more scared of each other than of him in that one.

No way was Durr shocked, if he didn't expect them to fold he wouldn't have made the play.

Maybe I am thinking of the wrong hand. Did you mean the one with
    Eastgate and Greenstein?

He even talked about it at the table after and said something along the lines that Eastgate had the best hand, pretty sure he wasn't making those bets knowing the guy had the best hand if he would be shocked that he actually folded.

Yeah, I just remembered seeing a pot between Eastgate, Brunson, and Dwan that I was thinking of because the guy said Doyle. But Greenstein was the one with AA in this hand. I just got myself a little confused on the hand he was talking about. Then I didn't leave it alone like I should have after he destroyed my post.

No matter what though.... a sick read by Dwan, a sick play by Dwan, a questionable fold by eastgate (IMO), and a badspot for Green's A's from Pre Flop on. I think I am going to enjoy this season very much.

eastgate has been playing scared the whole session so far. case in point is the trips hand he had with dwan earlier. if that hand hadn't happened i don't think dwan would've made the bluff play against eastgate and greenstein

Is he any good or just luckbox his way to the WSOP win? I mean, obviously some skill, but would he sit at a table like that without that one win?

I think that is way above what he was playing before the win. If I remember right, I believe some of the higher stakes online guys were like lining up to play him because he moved way up after his win.

I wouldn't blame him at all for laying down trips with bottom kicker there with barry behind him after the flop was like what... 8 way?
I have no clue how Durrr could make that play. But I guess that's why I'm not a millionaire yet.

How many people are going to put $100k behind a marginal spot?

Flop: Durr raises for information, to make it difficult for a better T to continue and as a semi-bluff. My guess is that if it folds to Barry and Barry calls he's done unless he spikes a Ten.

    Button flats, UTG calls.

UTG: Likely big pair (AA/KK/QQ/JJ), maybe a flopped monster trapping.
BN: Either a very loose call with Tx or trips, 22 (delt one way) or TT. However, can he discount TT because he figures TT would re-raise given how crazy loose the game is and the amount of money that is out there.

On the turn he knows he's toast. He can't steal a free 2-outer.

BN might be on timid money (recently booked a big win, wants to look like he belongs on TV) and might play bad enough to flat Tx. Barry reads hands well enough to think that Tom wouldn't bluff big into a weak player and him repping a big pair. So Tom turns his hand into a big bluff and it works out.

o The structure has an Ante.
o They don't want to look like nits on TV (OMGClayAiken) so they can get invited back and get action in their bread + butter games.

Probably a situation where there is an unspoked understanding that everyone except for Doyle needs to play a little bad.

I more meant he was taking AA against the whole table. Then that flop was not a good one with that kind of action going on.

On a sidenote, I heard Eastgate during the EPT Kopenhagen live webcast (couple weeks ago) saying he was playing way lower before his big win. He was asked to name someone he really looked up to poker strategy-wise and he named Sauce and Nutsinho and said they are levels ahead of him and he was learning a lot from them/their game.

I think he's a bit intimidated on HSP, especially in those 2 bigger pots against Dwan.
  45. #45
    wtf Eastage has played fine

I don't get why anyone is picking on his play. Hell, the only spot I didn't like was when he bet the turn with JT against Ziigy and binked the J on the end. Turn seems like a spot ziigy is never c/f'ing a better hand and never has worse after squeezing from the straddle at this table dynamic. Plus, ziigy hasn't opened a trashy hand yet (although he's called with plenty).

Doyle is playing like a ridiculous live nit but no one calls him out EVER. Eli is obviously the fish as the table along with Ziigy just because it's hold'em only. Durrrr, Benyamine (lol how is he in the top NLH category), and Eastgate are playing the best.

Who knows how Doyle/Barry play because they never play a fucking hand

Negreanau seems way over his head as well.

HSP should be short handed. 9-handed punishes playing too many hands. Although the ante structure helps. Still, you're running into a top hand way too often.

    Thanks Fnord.
It's not hard to put Greenstein on a range there, and Eastgate obv. has at least 23... It still takes freakin balls of steel to trust them to fold there often enough... especially against Barry and with his image.

I've wondered about Negreanu. There were some spots where he made all-in calls in previous seasons when he definitely didn't get the odds, and that's really strange... he has to know he's behind so what is he doing?
I don't see why Doyle Barry or previously Tran, Chan, Ivey, Harman or even Stupak would want to play any different. I think Supak only played AA and I think he finished slightly ahead because Daniel called the overraise to setmine getting 5:1 or something.
As long as you get action anyway, why loosen up?

it's worth it to me to wait for the higher quality version.

anyways ya this is gonna be a fun season with dwan there. what a great play in that dwan/eastgate/greenstein hand. i was really surprised that he attempted to make eastgate fold his trips (it was kinda obvious that he had at least that). i didn't think he was goin anywhere. can't wait for more.

Without a hole card cam, does Barry just check/fold the flop? Then again, if he would do that, why did he over-call the flop raise?
go to Barry's site, he did an audio blog about the hand for like 20 minutes

    Thanks.

It's more like 30sec. though, unless you're talking about another episode...

But he made a very detailed post here:

DuecesCracked has a "podcast" out discussing that hand between Dwan, Greenstein, and Eastgate. They have BalugaWhale on to discuss the hand. It's a decent listen if anyone is interested.

    My take on this season:

What I really like about this season is with a couple of the internet guys in there when they are involved in hands the game plays much more like an online aggressive game unlike the loose passive crap that all those live guys usually play. I think Durr is playing really well (obviously helps when you flop good) and it just shows how obvious the fact is that internet pros > live pros.

Even though Gabe Kaplen doesn't understand what's going on some of the time I still think he's one of the better poker commentators.

omg wtf, Barry and Doyle bitch bitch bitch about these guys playing loose and bad and then he sticks it in there.

Also, DN needs to stfu, he's been out of line so many times this season it's not even funny now.

god jsut watched the rest of hte episode. Some funny stuff going on, people can talk shit all they want about Durrrr but the dude is pretty classy. Also, Ziigy/Eli hand is funny, Ziig wins on any black card plus any diamond 9/T/J too bad it came up red.

    qft

He makes these shows so much more interesting in the gameplay aspect. He's also started to develop a personality at the table too as opposed to earlier in his tv poker career.

And why the fuck is fucking Spenda so fucking angry every fucking time he fucking posts in this fucking thread?
