nah, just going to random gun shows and buying guns for the hell of it. I live in texas, there is a gun show just about every week. I have bought a gun about once a month over the last few years. Much better investment than cars.......

we have an american parts law on guns, I don't remember exactly, but when I decked out the ak I had to add a bunch of us parts. Without the clip, the AK is illegal, the clip/s have to be with the gun at all times.

There's something like 300 million firearms owned by US citizenry. The NRA is one of the most powerful non-governmental organizations on the planet. We love guns as much as we love beer and football. This is probably the easiest place in the world to find hand-held artillery |

The .25 Beretta from the "Randomness Thread" pitbull story. Next to a Bic to show how ridiculously small it is. It's my daily carry now.

My brother had a Taurus 38 snub.. I really disliked that gun. The kick was retarded (kicked worse than this DE .45) and something would get jammed with the cylinder and it wouldn't spin...

Right, the first part of my comment was aimed at light short barrel relatively high caliber hand guns, while the second part about it jamming was specifically at the taurus 38.

Yeah, I priced and shot some glocks, a couple sig sauers, and a S&W 9mm today. Probably purchase within the month. I was just saying the .25 is the best ccw choice with my current inventory.

ya, but a sig is like a Ferrari and a glock like a Corvette. Nothing wrong with a vette.. but..

When I was a Range Master at the police academy we had more malfunctions from sigs than any other weapon. Now don't get me wrong but they are great weapons but their tolerances are such that they are very temperamental. Now I carried a Glock G-21 and fired well over 150,000 rounds through it without a malfunction!

it's an analogy between guns and cars. it doesn't need to be proven or disproven for everyone to know that it's retarded.

Was there any particular model or caliber that stood out from the sigs that you've seen malfunction? Or would you just say that in general they are built so tightly that they make great range guns but poor carry guns? Just curious because I was always under the impression that they were extremely reliable.

Actually I wouldn't say there was any particular model but there was a common issue. The Sigs all use steel magazines and in law enforcement training you drill a lot on reloads and combat reloads. When you perform a combat reload you strip the magazine from the weapon and throw it to the ground in one smooth motion. Well with the tolerances being so tight any deformity to the magazine would induce a malfunction.

I was getting worried when I didn't see a 1911 even mentioned in the first half of the thread. A 1911 with a good trigger can be one of the better shooting guns around, even though the design is over 100 years old. I have a Dan Wesson 1911 that will put 5 shots into an 1.5 inch group at 50 feet away. Offhand. |

That's why I'm in the market right now. The .357 is a little big for concealed carry, so the .25 gets carried by default, since I only own 2 pistols at the moment.

I don't think there's a whole lot of bad things that could be said about a Glock as a carry gun. They're definitely not 'second rate' in any way. I personally would rather carry a 1911, but if I owned a Glock, I wouldn't hesitate to carry it. Really, you can't go wrong as long as you ditch the .25. |

You need to use the 'slingshot' technique after you put a new magazine in the 1911. This is better all around compared to trying to hit the slide release with your thumb for a couple of reasons. First, it does not require fine motor skills, which is a benefit if you are ever using the gun to shoot at a threat, as adrenalin will make little details much more difficult. Secondly, it reduces the chance of the slide not coming fully into battery, which would require another movement to correct. |

I think there are much better options for a carry gun than a 1911 to be quite honest. For example, a mid-sized glock is smaller, lighter, cheaper, more reliable, and holds about double the rounds. On the other end of my loosely defined spectrum, you have guns like the Kahr PM9 or old school S&W J-frame that are both very small and concealable yet use respectable calibers.

I agree... for a first carry gun I think the S&W J-frame is probably the most practical choice. It's small, so you're likely to actually have it with you all the time, even in warmer weather. You can just put it in your coat pocket if you're going to the corner store or even a pocket holster if you don't have time to put a holster on your belt. |

I call this my buddys wall of death. If you look closly you'll see that I am holding a full blown sniper rifle which is equiped with all the shit. Behind me is the wall of death. There are numerous AR-15's, SKS's, 12 guages, 10 guages, 9mm's 45's, 50 cal desert eagle etc. The real beauty is hundreds of people have been in this room and have no idea these guns are in the room as they are behind a 500 pound worm drive wall. It's amazing to say the least!
