    Default Kauf Jrs blog

Hello everybody, this is the first time I try this sort of thing, so please be kind

I'm spending loads of time reading others goals and achivements, but I've newer really made a blog or a goal post, or whatever you call it. In this thread I'll post, major goals as well as minor goals, hand histories, stats check-ups and so on. Well first of all my main goal is to:

    Reach 50NL before Christmas Eve!
    - Before moving up I'll want to have logged at least 30k 25NL hands, at have a bb/100 of more than 4.

I think this is doable, if I stay focus, and keep learning. I've played my first 4,500 serious hands of 25NLHE FR, my results have been quite disappointing. 0.36BB/100 for a mere 8$. Well at least I'm in the black.

The thing is I like to think I haven't really had time to develop some serious bad habbits, as I tend to read everything I can get my hands on before I even really start. So I play very tight, maybe even a little scared. My stats are 17/7. I think my problem is that I only play the cards, I belive this is called nutcamping. Anyways it dosen't work so well for me, I am not really getting payed of, I'm working on my betting for the moment. This should help me get in more AI situations, as I feel the only time I manage to put my chips in the middle is when I'm beat, lol. Bu I still fell like I'm learning a bit everyday.

From Casino whoring and poker bonuses, my Bankroll now 775$, but I will be finishing a 200$ bonus form Hollywood poker by the weekend. This would put me close to 1000$ with only 66$ form poker winnings. (I ran good at some PL tables I joined by accident, but I won't really focus on that as I see NL as my primary game, anyway, the money will of course go to my BR.) I got no intend to cash-out any of my BR, at least not before I'm getting really settled at 50NL, and maybe not even then. I'll continue to boost my BR with casino bonuses, as I still need to clear the Golden palace bonus, as well as planet-/starluck.

Any thoughts to if Casino whoring and poker bonuses should be counted in on the BR, if you consider moving up? I'm thinking the 20x max BI rule.

I better get this rambling finished, but before I end it, I'll set a minor goal, on my way to 50NL:

Play 25k hands at 25NL before the end of November. Hopefully increase my bb/100.

Thank for reading this, if anyone did
Any comments, questions, advice or just simple wishes of good luck will be greatly appreciated!

Good Luck with all of it. One question, is it really advisable to move up to $50NL if you get to the $1000 bankroll? 30k hands in 8 weeks? Thats 3750 hands a week till Christmas eve. Is this sustainable for you? If so, 25K before end of November? That's 5k a week for 5 weeks? You claimed that
close to 1000$ with only 66$ form poker winnings.
I think it would be advisable to make sure you can beat $25NL before moving up. If you have more bonuses to clear and a good rakeback @$50NL, maybe it'll cover you for a while, but there may be some leaks that are causing you to not make money at this level.

Do you have PT or PO. Can you post some stats of your last "4,500 serious hands". What site, times and duration are you playing? How many tables? Where are you winning/losing the most money?

Your right where I need to be and it'll help me as well to see what is and isn't working at the $25NL level. You would be amazed at what these guys can help with. See my blog and you may get an idea of needs and solutions to SSHE leaks.

Cool. Always cool to follow the progress of other players.

Good luck. Give us plenty of updates

First of all thanks for all the kind words.

You claimed that
I don't think it is a good idea for me to move up, until I have at least proven myself at the 25NL tables. I think 3750 hands a week is sustainable. I'm still in school, so I got quite alot of sparetime atm. Especially now when we have holliadys in soccer. And when we get hollidays from school, I'll be able to play 8 hours a day. My goals may be aiming to high, but we'll see.

And just to explain where my bankroll comes from.

    200$ invested.
    295$ - from bet365 and casino-on-net
    Around 80$ - poker winnings
    100$ - From Empire poker
    50$ - Paradise
10$ - bodog - I went there to get PT free.

So my current BR is 750$, but I have a 200$ bonus finishing from Hollywood at the end of this week.

Do you have PT or PO. Can you post some stats of your last "4,500 serious hands". What site, times and duration are you playing? How many tables? Where are you winning/losing the most money?
I got both, got both through bonuses, but I'm using PT. How do you post a screenie of your stats here? I play a hollywood for now, clearing a bonus. Next I'm going to a Crypto site, sun poker i think, there bonus seem very juicy. I play 4 tables only, I can't figure out a way to play more, other than buying another monitor? I play from 7-10 pm, GMT+1.

My rockets is clearly my greatest winner, I'm losing on the big slick. Mainly because of people slowplaying sets, and me getting myself commited with it...

I'll try to find a way to pos the stats when I get home, it should be interesting to hear others opinions.

Alright I think it works now, here are a graf of my first 5k hands. And a screenie of my general stats. Please feel free to comment

Okay, I belive it is time for an update. I the past few days, I have completed the 200$ bonus from hollywood poker, and before I'm going to sun poker, or pokerplex, I'll just do Eurobets 50$.

I've been playing pretty good lately, and I'm feeling a bit more confident in my game. I've played about 4k hands since my last update, but only 3 of them has been logged on PT. (I had a problem with Hollywood software and had to reinstall, after the reinstall PT would not import my hands. I later found out that I had forgotten to check the "enable statistics" thingy.

But without the 1k where i ran nicely making 3 buy-ins, I'm now 3.9bb/100. I feel that I can still increase this number as my game is improving pretty fast at this moment.

I think I might take a shot at 50 NL two weeks from now, sometime in the weekend, just to see how I do.

Here is a funny hand from last night, god he had me smoked

    Poker Room skin

Yup vallian had TJo, I newer thought for once I was beat, I had to laugh when we got to the showdown

Maybe next time he won't float the turn and give you that card for cheap. Nice catch. My last two quads have not paid off because no one caught anything to bet back at me.

    Good Luck.

I forgot to mention in the previous post that my style has gotten alot more nitty. I'm 15/7 for the time being, but it lets me play my hands with great confidece. I know this technique is very easy readable, but the maniacs don't pay attention to anything, and they keep trying to force me out everything, practicially giving me their money.

Got the Eurobet bonus done today. Played there for 5 days to clear a 50$ bonus. 3k hands played, 12/4,5, running 12,06/100, won 186,35$ from poker only, thats more that 7 buyins up. I am very pleased with that, even though I my 12/4,5 numbers are concerning.

Some of the bad news is that I've been forced to withdraw 200$ to bills paying, and just general living. I don't feel to bad about this though, as I invested these money to start off with, and now that my winnings can stand on its own, I feel okay about taking my investment back.

My Bankroll now stands at 1073$ after the 200$ withdrawel.

I'm going to sun poker now for their juicy bonus and a nice rakeback , I'm just hoping there is enough tables for me to clear it playing 25NL FR.

In this past weekend I haven't played mroe than a mere 600 hands. There has been alot of real life stuff and I have spent much time getting accostumed to the crypto network. I don't really like it much, currently I have a 100$ reward bonus going, but I won't really spend much time playing before i at least get the monhtly bonus going aswell. I thinking I missed out on the 50$ bonus, I don't reallly know where I should get it from as it is not in my account yet(there is only a casino bonus).

Another reason for me not liking the crypto besides the bonus confusing, is that there is only 3,84 tables of 25NL going at one time?!
My only alternative is going 6max, and I don't won't to do that for now as I am just starting to feel comfortable playing FR.

As for my november goal of playing 21k hands, I think that goal is already out of my reach, as I have not yet had a lot of time to play this month. And I have a big project going on at school. I would like to hear other peoples experiences concerning the crypto network, I know there bonuses are great, but as the table selection is very poor I don't really know...

Just finished a session on sun-poker, down 3 buy-ins in 250 hands.. My set hit a runner runner straight, and my KK ran into AA.

Here's a plus with Crypto - when you are comfortable at $25NL there, play £25NL instead - the games aren't much harder but because of the exchange rate you're making far more $$$! I have played about 65k hands at £25NL on crypto and my PTBB/100 is a fraction above 9, so they're decent games.

An inexperienced $1000 will get smoked fast at $50 NL, so stay where you are for now. In that QQ hand, ask yourself what the opponent is calling you with. You have top set, what is his hand that he's going so deep with you? You either have him slaughtered or vice versa. This is not a small edge type hand.

Is he just a fish, or is there a bad reason he calls $6 on the turn. You need to work on pot control against decent players when you hit spots where the only hand that will stack off is one that beats you, and the villain indeed starts stacking off.

When you say you had no idea villain had JT I shook my head a little. The 8 is a make card. You need to know exactly what each successive card does to the hand. Is it a blank. Is it a make? How much fold equity will future cards bring on this flop? Does this turn or river card give me more fold equity? Do I want that equity or not? Does it help me or hurt me?
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

I see what you mean Rondavu, I guess I just got excited because I hit the top set, newer saw the draw. I know that I have to work on my thinking when I play.

As far as my playing poker goes, I've had a lot of problems with my girl, this just complete set me off my game, I can't focus, I lose patience, lost 3 buy-ins due to very bad play over theese few couple of days. Playing while I feel like this won't get me anywhere, so I am on hold for the moment. Have to spend some time enjoying friends and real life stuff ...

I'll update here as soon as I feel any better.

Wow, this thread is getting dusty
But now after lurking for the past week, I felt it was time to start posting again, getting more involved. I got my personal life sorted out, and I'm now more than ready to focus on poker!

For this past few days I've been playing at pacific poker, for their 100$ bonus. I'm 2/3 ways through it, and up 4 buy-ins from poker. I don't really know where I want to go from here, but definatly some place where PT can import hands! I would love ongame, I coulden't stand the Crypto skins, there were absolutely no tables to choose from, always the same players. So for the moment I'm looking for an ongame bonus.

I starting Casino whoring again, and I just finished intercasinos monthly. Now I'm going to vegas red or golden palace.

Tonight I am going to take a shot a 50NL probably 2 tables, hoping to catch so druk 'tards donating money
    Feels good to be back!

What a night this has been guys, my biggest so far in my poker career.
    Up 280$
    190$ from 25NL and 90$ from 50NL.

On top of that i completed my sign-up bonus for another 100$. I am a bit sad that PT aint working here, because there is a lot of hand histories I would have loved to show you guys. Like hitting a straight flush on the river and getting payed off big time (won a 90$ pot at 25NL). Or my first "stolen" stack at 50NL, classic, hit my set and he hit his king, hed had AK of course and gladly donated

Now I'm going to watch saturday night football live, lets see the Great Dane take on the record as most scoring ever

    Yehaw what a night

750 hands today of 50NL won 120$, things went well and I really did not see any big changes. A few more people not giving up on my c-bets, but otherwise nothing new. I ran 16/9 today and I think I loose some value by being to tight, sometimes I fold KJ UTG or UTG+1. I find that these hands put me in some though situations sometimes, I dunno maybe I just need to grow some balls.

So for now, 50NL will be my primary game unless variance kick me in the nuts
  19. #19
Okay ... Variance is kicking me in the nuts, kicking hard!
If anyone really does read this thing, I would love some replies on this, at one point today I was up 2 buyins. Then theese hands happend. I know my play is not optimal at all of the plays, so any comments on my play is more than welcome. After just moving up, this 4 buy-in downswing, (bringing me right back to zero) has taken a big hit on my confidence.

I wonder if anyone know a place where you can figure out odds, when you know the holdings, just to see if I really play this bad, or if I'm running poor.

Played 800 hands today, was up 3 buy-ins today, ended up 1 buy-in.
I wonder if I should quit earlier, playing shorter sessions, in theory if my hourly rate is good all I need is hands. But I don't know if it is all that simple. As this seem to happend all the time. I can definately play better than I did today, still a lot of leaks to fix.

Here is my stupid hand of today, when he pushed i thought he was holdning an overpair, maybe a 2pair, trying to defend against a weak flush. Guess I was wrong ..

Well, 2006 is almost gone, an it has been a great year. The year I discovered poker. I've completed my main goal to get to 50NL before christmas, even though i did not complete my minor goal of playing 30K hands first (only got in 19K hands running 5.1BB/100). Now that there is a new year and month to come, I better come up with some goals for this year. So far my only goals for January is to:

Move up to 100NL when I reach 1k profit with 50NL.

Other than that my first 8k hands at 50NL has been wonderfull, at 7.2BB/100 I'm hoping to keep this up as I'm going for at huge bonus 500$ at the ongame network, I know it will take some time to clear, but I don't mind. Their 50NL and 100NL games are pretty good and I like their software. So now I'm going to focus on grinding it out at 50NL and hopefully move up to 100NL.

When I get comfortable at 100NL I'm considering to buy a samsung 204B monitor so that I can play 8 tables instead of 4. But I will see when that time comes.

I'll update both goals for January and for 2007 in the next post. Happy new year to you all, now lets go get pissed

    Good luck Kauf
    Thank you

I have been playing 2k hands of break even poker since my last update. Mostly because of bad beats, men certainly bad play as well. As I promised some goals, first for the year:

    1. Study at least 3 poker books.
    2. Get started in MTTs.
    3. Make 10K this year
    4. Play as many hands possible

    Now for january goals:

    1. Move to 100NL when reach 1k profit of 50NL
    2. Play at least 10k hands (hope to get in around 15, but we will see)
    3. Order NL Hold'em theory and practice, and Harrington on hold'em vol. 1 and 2.
    4. Work on opening up alot more in middleposition.

I think that is about it
Here is a screenie of my first 10k hands of 50NL and some of my stats, feel free to comment.

  25. #25
Well it's been a good 10 days since my last update, I've played 5k hands since then, running 4.3BB/100. My total profit up 50Nl is now 862$, I'm really looking forward to getting started with 100NL but I will stick to my goal of winning 20 buy-ins at 50NL first. The money at 100NL looks even sweeter at this point, because I'm quitting my part-time job. I'm sick of the job and my boss besides I only make 10$ there and now I'm making 16$ at home, playing 50NL with bonusses.
  26. #26
    WOOOT!

Reaching my goal of 1k profit at 50NL yesterday, played at bit 100NL yesterday and some now. +6,5 buyins. 6 og these were today. I ran really hot and played very well. I basically won my 204b samsung that I'm getting soon, as I'm feeling ready to add some more tables. Right now I only 4 table ongane, canbet, for a 450$ bonus. The bonus is not one of the best, but I really like the ongame network, and I'm willing to play worse bonuses than I would have to otherwise to play here. I know that I can't be running as hot as I have today, but I really feel like these games are very beatable, no real change since 50NL. I'm starting to work on reraising more with position, this has turned out good thus far.

This is my biggest pot this far:

opponent was 15/0 over 34 hands.

    I fold the flop.
    Check out the new blog!!!
  28. #28
I see why you would fold, but giving up already on the flop with TPTK seems weak to me. He might give up already on the turn, that was the reason I called in the first place. When he fired a second time I could pretty much narrow it down to AA,KK maybe AK. KK being most likely as I this kind of player would slowplay a set.
  29. #29
I tend to stay away from 15/0 and when he raises the flop its safe to lay it down. When the only thing you beat is a bluff and it's not a strong read on one, which in this case its not even close, you should fold.
    Check out the new blog!!!
  30. #30
Yaeh, I guess in retrospect I should have layed it down, maybe already prefolp.
  31. #31
Well it's been a good 10 days since my last update here. I the time that has passed I've gotten myself 2 204bs and I really love 'em, however I got a problem with the colers. That problem is already mentioned in this thread http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-49695.htm so I wont mention it here.

As far as my playing goes, it's not been good. Since my last update I've lost 2,5 buyins. I've not had a winning day since 21th . I think this is a mix of some things:

    1. I've losened up more, this is not good as i don't have a clue about good postflop play.

    2. I've been making some really bad calldowns which has cost me approximately 2+ buyins.

    3. I've run awefull. Boat<four of a kind twice in 2 days. set over set, set to runner runner straight. My only winning "final hand" is a flush. All other hands I've been losing on

I've played 6,5k hands of 100NL now and I don't really find it that hard, I just need to play my A game, and run a little better . I was 15/8 at 50NL as I did with no problems. Now I'm 17/9 with at 100NL so I guess my plan is to tighten up. Another thing I've noticed is that my total agression is a 4.95 now, an it was on 3.46 when I was at 50NL ...

In one of the next days I'll post a new monthly goals post, and check up on this months goals.
  32. #32
Wow, $100 NL?? I'm surprised. I'm not gonna pick but some of the HH's above that show some poor betting patterns. I know because I do the same thing and get shit a lot from guys reading my posts or in chat. GL at $100NL. I'm not sure I'll even attempt it at $2K. You like Ongame?? how's the play? What's the table stats like when you join? Are they typically looser than stars or Full tilt? Are they aware of your tighter range there, or still playing their own crds at $50NL?

Keep up the climb, nice work.
  33. #33
Well I've made this "rule" that when I win 20 buy-ins for that level I move up. By this rule I have come to 100NL. With bonuses and casinos I've been able to withdraw 1600 for monitors and bills.
I started on a real heater winning 11 buy-ins in first 5k hands, since then I've been on a 6 buy-in downswing. I don't think the play is really different, other than I see a few people who can actually play postflop.

I really like Ongame, I think it's because I've been fairly succesfull there. I've newer been at full tilt or stars, so I will not try to compare. As I 8 table now, I sit on alot of tables even though they are not all ideal. I join all with VPIP 25+ and avg pot 30$+. Most was definately playing their own cards, I diden't see any difference from 25NL to 50NL.

As far as climbing goes I'll try to settle in at 100NL then cash out some of my winnings an add a bit to my BR every month(that is if I wont get crushed here ).

I think you're trying too hard to be aggressive - you're probably losing value by overbetting. Don't get passive, but also don't feel you ALWAYS need to be the aggressor - not only will it make worse hands fold but good players will find you easier to manipulate.

(haha - just checked my $100NL stats - too small a sample size to be relevant - and my river aggression factor is seventeen...)
  35. #35
I think your right Biodino, I'll try to slowdown with c-bets and general betting.. Calling is definately and thing I'm not comfortable with, I'm not home right now so I can't check PT stats, but I'm pretty sure that I lose $ on every hand in which I'm not the agressor. Maybe I should try slowplaying against better opponents, I don't know. But I better start winning again soon, I give myself 5 buy-ins from now on. Which is what I have left in total profit from 100NL. I these next couple of days I'll try to play only 6 tables and be a bit more aware of my table image.
  36. #36
The only difference between 50NL and 100NL is there are less fish and more nits, but the style of play is the same. If you practice good table selection though it shouldn't be an issue, you can find plenty of juicy tables.
    Check out the new blog!!!

I just lost nearly a buy-in yesterday on a quick 400 hands, my TPTK ran into AA. The villain was a callingstation, calling down with any pair, so I lost 3/4 buyin trying to milk him...

Jess, I can't play today but tommorrow I'll put in a good long session, it's like I can't win anymore !

Calling stations who slowplay AA are a huge leak for me. I never see it coming. Good news is sucking out on that is a great feeling.

I'm glad to tell you guys that I finally caught a break, played 600 hands today and won 2 buyins. I ran into another CS slowplaying AA today, I guess that is just bound to happen sometimes.

Since the month has now passed I'll check up on my stats and later my monthly goals:

It is 100NL from 7k hands mark.
Note that todays resulst aint accounted for in these screens.

    Goals:
    1. Complete, I have played 7,5kk hands of 100NL at 4.35PTBB/100.
    2. Complete, I got in 14061 hands this month.
    3. Not complete, I'm considering to sign up a cardrunners instead, as getting NLHE T&P to Denmark will be a bit expensive, and I believe the info at Cardrunners will be more relevant.
    4. Partly complete, I've started limping suited aces more when the tables is passive, and things like that. But I have not seen a whole lot of difference in my numbers. This still need some work.

    Now for next months goals:

    1. Settle at 100NL (4PTBB/100 or better)
    2. Play at least 20k hands
    3. Decide what to do with this whole cardrunners or book thingy (advice appreciated)
    4. Work on getting my aggression factor down (at 5.01 atm)

I can't come up with more than that right now, but I might add one during the month.
  40. #40
Just lost 2 buy-ins within the last 50 hands, AA both ran into flopped sets of queens.

EDIT: Still manged to end the session up 14$ so overall not to shabby.
  41. #41
Just finished a nice day, 2 sessions up 4,5 buy-ins. Variance smiled at me in certain spots. On-game is down so I cant show you the HHs, but today my KK ran into AA (yeah yeah no big deal), but this time i went to runner runner a FH, ironically the card that completed my FH also completed his A high flush Other than that I had an OESFD going all in with 2 others on the flop, cathing a flush for a nice pot.

Oh, and my 450$ bonus is also clearing soon.. yay
  42. #42
Up another 4,5 buy-ins since my last update. My sign-up bonus has also completed for another 450. I think I'll do the canbet reload now for another 500$.

I can't really review my stats right now, because on-game is having some problems with their databases, but they are saying that they will "remake" the HHs when they get it up and running, so hopefully they won't be lost. I don't really know if I'm keeping up with my hands play, you get tired faster when playing 8 tables so I think I have a tendency to play less.

Since I started playing 8 tables I've been playing without my HUD. My computer simply lags to much, even when I don't have PT importing, I dont know if it's because of on-games laggy software, or if my computer just suck. I guess it's both.
  43. #43
    EDIT!

    Double-post
  44. #44
Just finished a nice session for 3 buy-ins. Nothing spectacular hands really, but I think I may have identified a leak of mine.
Gambling with shorties!! Today I noticed that I do it all the time nearly, mostly in coinflips or when I'm a little behind. Those things add up...

As far as on-games database problem goes it seems that they have really screwed up. They are now saying that they are incapable of backtracking the lost HHs, this basically means that I don't know how may hands I have played, and don't exactly know how much money I have won this month, which suck. This also means that I have to change my goals for the rest of this month. I will re-evaluate my hands-played goal when on-game get their database up and running again.

My new primary goal for the month, however will be to:
Move up to 200NL when bankroll hits $4000

    Bankroll now: $3621

Thanks for chimming in man, really appreciate it.

As for today, just f*ck it. AA and KK, lost 4+ buyins with those 2 today, ppl flopping hands against and I just had a hard time getting away, spewing some turn bets before realising that I am beat ...
Tiltet a buy-in away later, a set of fives on a flop only of diamonds with two others in pot ... I'm just so pissed at myself right now!
  47. #47
I've been breakeven since my last post. Today I ended down 1buyin, but I lost 3 times while getting it all-in with the best hand, I better start running good soon

Since my last update I've joined Cardrunners, I've watched a couple of the 100NL vids. and nothing new was revealed. But it was still nice to get confirmed that you're doing the right things, I should probably work on tightening up a bit, even though that seems a bit weird as I'm 16/9.

As for hand histories problem, that is finally solved...
  48. #48
I was also a member of Cardrunners and I got a lot out of it. The only problem I have is that they don't show the videos where they get outdrawn by a 2-outer on the river with their stacks in the middle

But seriously, I don't think that CR is very valuable for stakes below $50NL (I know you play higher) because of the amount of donks at the microstakes. Its also quite expensive in relation to the BR. But when I reach $100NL (hopefully) I might consider it again.

I agree with you that they do not really bring a whole lot of new things to the micro games. But when I signed up with CR it was mostly to take a look a their 200NL videos, as there is not really any post about how the players change from 100NL->200NL yet everybody seems to agree that the skill level rise. So I just wanted to see if there was any thing really new they could offer.
I was also ment to prepare me for summer where I am planning to change to 6-max. Hopefully I'll be a winning player at 200NL FR by then, and 200NL seems to be the highest stakes where you can consistenly find games with a some good fish in FR. Besides I'll have a lot of free time this summer so I think that will be the best time for me to make the switch.

I managed to win the first two i played, then placed second i the third, and then losing the last two (got a bit drunk in the end). It was great fun, especially the HU play was very interesting. I would love to get better at that sometime ..

Bankroll still at 3700ish, but as I can't get out of my house neither today or tomorrow, (due to heavy snowing) I'll have plenty of time to play.

Cleared the reload bonus at canbet today while raking in 4 buy-ins.

    Decision time
Now it seems that I've got quite a few choices to make.
While closing in on the 20+ buy-in mark for 200NL I''ve been browsing the 200NL tables at the on-game network. I see many of the same regulars that I see now at 100NL + a few higher stakes regulars. To say the least the games does not look juicy at all. This make me wonder wether I should make the switch to 6-max before moving up to 200NL.
The ideal for me would be to move up to 200NL FR and succed, leaving me with 7-8k next month, cash out 3k and then move to 6-max and continue my climb. I need to cash out sooner or later because I've quit my sucky part time job (I'm still in school), and I need the money. I can borrow money from my parents for a month or two, (they know I play poker and would be willing to lend me money for this "moving-up investment"). Be if my move-up goes bad, its pretty sucky. Then I would be forced to cash out some next time I reach 4k to pay debt. Witch would delay my climb even futher...

I also need to decide where to go next, this obviously depends on wether I move to 6-max or not, I have enjoyed the ongame network but I'm starting to see more regulars and I've nearly run out of bonuses (still got a rakeback site left).
I would really like to hear some opinios from you guys both on the FR vs 6-max thing, but also where to go etc etc.

So I took a shot at 200NL FR at ongame, very poor game selection, decent amount of regulars. I quit after this hand, biggest pot in my poker career and I lost it. Would somebody please make an EV calculation of this hand, I'm not so good with those yet. I figured his reraising range would be. KJ, AK, 33, JJ, KK, AA. KK and AA are pretty unlikely as I believe he would have reraised me preflop. I'm sure he will lay down KJ and AK 95% percent of the time. He will call me with any set, but against a set I would still have 11 outs. There is also a small chance that he was just trying to steal the pot. So as I said I think this play is +EV but I'm not sure please correct me if I'm wrong ...

Well since my last update I've transfered all my money to Full tilt to play 200NL, so far I've been doing pretty well 2100 hands 12PTBB/100 for 956$. My first day at full tilt was sick, I was running extremely hot making like 1400$ in 1100 hands for 32PT/BB or so. Today I had 2 huge coolers, both of them busted my sets, rivered flushes. But I'm already starting to fell comfortable with the stakes and I definetely believe that I can't beat this level so I consider my move up permanent.

Well the month has passed and its time to make a status. This month I made approximately $3k. One third of this is bonus monies. My goals for this month got pretty messed up because I had some major problems with canbet and my handhistories, but I reach my goal of making the move up to 200NL. Next month I will focus solely on improving my game and building my bankroll, so that I can make a sizeable cashout while still adding to the 'roll. I'm going to state some hands played goals tomorrow I think. But for now my plan is to stay at 200NL FR for a month or 2, build the roll, cash out and enjoy myself. Then focus on switching to 6-max. That's pretty much it.

Well enough rambling for now, I'm off to bed now, good luck at the tables.

I only play 4 when I move up a level, this help me to get the grasp of new things, and watch how thigns have changed since the last level, and then try to adjust. When I feel slightly more comfortable I add 2 tables. And then if I feel like it I might add 2 more later on to play 8.

I think that FTP is tough, when you play American time that is. I really don't think that the games are really tough when I play at EU prime times. But I've only played 2k hands some this maybe completely wrong.

Well I haven't played much in mar. and I definately wont for the next couple of days, I'm going to Hamburg in Germany for the rest of the week with my class, and were leaving tomorrow morning.

This month I've played 2k hands for -3 buyins. I've ran pretty hot with cards, but dead cold with action, unless when I'm beat, I've also made some stupid calldowns and went to far with TPTK once. When I get home it will be time to play a shitload of hands and get back to basics.

    Until then, take care y'all!
  58. #58
Well I'm home from Hamburg now (got home friday actually, but been playing alot of soccer this weekend so no time for poker). I gotta tell you the Hamburg trip was awesome! People were really drunk for 3 days straight, and I mean wasted! No study was done any of the days, so we gotta work our asses of now at home, but I guess thats life.

I just played a quick 500 hands while 4-tabling just to get into the grove again, it worked out pretty well as I ended up 2.5 buy-ins for the night.

Gotta work on getting some more hands in now that I'm home again, only got 2.5k logged an that just wont cut it. But I'm off to bed now, good luck at the tables!

It's been a long time since my last update here, things have not been going as I hoped for so I have not been motivate to update. After running really well at 200NL my first day, I've slowly been losing it all. I have definately not been running well, but I have also made to many bonehead plays. I was pretty frustrating for me with 13k hands of breakeven poker. And even though I know that such streaks happend and it doesn't nessecarily mean that I it's my play that is to bad..
But I have decided that I don't believe my edge is big enough at these games. So I decided to make the switch to 6-max, it had to come sooner or later and I think it will be good for my game with more marginal decisions. Besides now is a good time to make the switch because cardrunners is running a small video series to help SSNL players to get a good solid tag game. I need to start posting a lot of hands now because even though I haven't played so much yet I run into many situations where I don't know what to do or and how to act. I started out with the Prima network as they have plenty of bonusses and quite juicy games. I play 100NL and plan to stay here for a while. This means that I can withdraw some of my roll to pay of some debt, which well be nice to get out of the way, it's about $1800. I've been thinking about calculating my average earn per 14 days, and then withdraw 33% percent of that, regardsless of how it goes, I've read about this at cardrunners. I know this will slow the build of my roll, but after take a stab at the 200NL games I see that I still have plenty to learn at the 100NL level, so this suits me fine.

That's enough talking now let's get some graphs.

Iknow my stats are a bit to nitty but I'm still working on my preflop game.

Now here is a hand where I diden't know how to act. (I'm probably a donk for even posting hand like this):
    - Sorry but I haven't found a Prima converter yet.

gl with the switch. didnt realise your BR was that large either.

my stats of VPIP and PFR and very similiar to yours so i know the way you are playing, im working on loosing up MP and LP. more so MP actually. You will have to work harder for 6max now since you wont really be comfortable with the PF hand ranges, it will take some getting used to.

In that spot you fold your pocket queens. You have an overbet push and call before you. One pair isn't profitable against the action, unless you have a loose read on one or both of the players.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

yeah I'm finding that to be really tough now, I need to use a lot of my attention to which hands to play and it takes take to check with the chart I have for now. Hopefully it will soon be automized.

I did fold them, I was amazed when brann won the pot with 57o

I haven't been playing since my last update and I won't be playing tonight, I'll go out with some friends. But tomorrow I hope to log another 1k hands or so. I also need to work on not playing tired, since I switched to 6-max I have had two big situations where I suddenly go crazy. My brain stops working and I just click my mouse even though it's so obvious that I'm beat. Every bet saved is a bet won, even more so when that bet is an entire buy-in. I blame tirredness for these situations, I played a lot of late hours after a whole day of school and soccer practice. I need to make sure I only play when I'm ready to do so.
  63. #63
Played 2500 hands today, for -1.5 BI.
    SUCK!

I'm on a 4k breakeven streak now, really boring. Not much to do about it really, but I should still work on thinking before calling big bets, I'm such a donkey sometimes, I don't know why I do it. Some thing to lock the pokerwindow for 10 secs everytime I'm faced with a 50< bet that would be neat.
  64. #64
Well I won't be playing anymore in march. Pretty disappointing month to say the least.. My move up to 200NL FR diden't go as well as I would have liked it to and I'm currently on a breakeven/downswing at 100NL 6max.
My change to 6max has been bringin new life into my poker career, alot of things to work on, discuss and get better at. I hope to learn a lot these next few months.

My approach to BR building has also changed this month, instead of adding all my winnings to the BR each month, I'm now going to cash-out 1/3 of my expected winnings (playing+bonus) every second week. I do this because it won't be relevant for me to move up anytime soon, so I might as well enjoy the money while I'm learning 6-max.

Now some stats and a graph for the month.

And a hand I think is pretty standard, but meh..

Started April today with a 2.5 buyins day, played 3 sessions for a total of 1600 hands, running 16/12/5. I've been watching a lot of CR videos and they have made me think so much deeper about my game, and I'm working on a lot of things in my game right now and I think I'm on my way to being a thinking NL player now. Better not promise to much though
  66. #66
Wow, what a day, started up 4.5 buyins, ended down -.5. Been taking a lot of beats these last 2 days. Made me tilt off 1 buyin at one of the tables today, overplaying my OESD. What I did notice today was that I bet the river far to often, often when scarecards comes, and you would be amazed to see what peopele call down with. Once you check the turn, most people will call down any medium sized river bet, regardless of which card comes. Oh well, hopefully I'll run better soon.

Wow what a session, -4.25 buyins. This was pretty sick, AA<KK 150bbs deep, set<FD 130bbs deep, KK<6-outer on river ... Some dude slowplaying KK hit his set while i hit top2. Alright I'll stop now but you get the picture, pretty frustrating..
  69. #69
Well, I think I'm about to break a 11 buyin downswing. I'm +3 for the last 2 days. Lot of these 11 buyins were coolers, but in the end I started to play bad as well. Being pretty frustrated with it all I decided to get a coach, first we played for 1:15 and he decided what to do, and told me why and so on and so forth. The biggest thing I picked up here was to loosen up a lot, and slowplay TPTK and sets on monotone flops occasionally, hoping to extract calls from lower pairs and such. Then we did a 45mins pokertracker review, this helped me a lot, not that I picked up on anything worth mentioning, but because he examined alot of my marginal loosing plays and told me he probably would have played it the same. This really boosted my confidence, and if that was the only thing I picker up from that 2 hour lesson (which it wasn't) then I would still feel it was worth the money.

Anyways I'm still down 75$ for the month pokerwise+125 for coaching+125 for full member sign-up at cardrunners. But I am about to finish a 500$ bonus, so my month has been just about break-even so far.

    Bankroll: 3755
  70. #70
Just sick... I get it in with the best of it in 2 huge pots, 270bbs and 330bbs both outdrawn by flushes. AA cracked by gutshots, set cracked by runner runner straight. Sick.
  71. #71
who u charging coaching? or basically how are you doing that?
Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.
  72. #72
I found a coach through cardrunners, he was able to see my monitor trough some feature in AIM pro. We then discussed what to do and why through skype. It worked out pretty good except for the lag, because the distance from Denmark to the US is so great. But I think it was pretty good and I think I will have another lesson when I move up to 200NL.

I think this type of thing could be helpful for most peoples games, even if you aren't taught by a pro, it really make you think about your game because you have to defend your actions all the time.

As for poker I'm on a 7-buyin upswing, my month is still miserable, $300+, but for now I'm just glad I left the downswing behind
  73. #73
Well well, another month went by This has been a rough month, but it ended well. I feel like I improved a lot, I've maded a few notes this past month, and even though they are very simple I found that just reading them before I play and help me a lot. I'll post them here tomorrow I think.
I've cut the idea of cashing out a bit of my bankroll every 2 weeks, at least until I am at 200NL, which I will hopefully be soon. My bankroll currently stands at $5150 but I will have to cash some out for some monthly bills tomorrow, I dont know how much it will be yet but between $3-400 I think. When I reach $5k again after my cash-out I'm going to take a shot at 200NL to see how it goes, I feel like my game can handle the 200NL on prima.

    But now for some numbers/graphs

Jesus what a session. I've newer been sucked out on like that, it was insane, 3-6 outers, all of them hit, I won 2 pots over $20 in like 400 hands. Then I had my Kings allin with aces for 150bbs, sigh.
    - $340 what a start to May.

Gotta go blow some steam off to soccer practice, better not stand in my way
  75. #75
Well, I've taken a shot at 200NL and after 5k hands Im just about breakeven, I've had some decent variance, but I've made some ridiculos mistakes. This leads me into thinking that I can beat this level, but I still don't know. The mistakes I made was mostly due to fancy play syndrome, and to counter that I've added 2 more tables, so im playing 6 now. This has taken me from a 23/19 semi lag to a 18/16 TAG, This is actually fine with me, I think TAG gets paid off just fine, and I can make more bonus money playing more tables, so I don't mind it really. Just hoping I can make it at 200NL, even a 3PTBB winrate plus bonuses is some serious money to me.
