    Default Vegas Advice.....

    Hey everyone..
I have been doing well lately and have built up a good bankroll. Im taking my wife to Vegas in October or November and am looking for advice on which casino to play at and where to stay.

Where should I play considering I am bankrolled for 200NL?

How do I get the hookup on hotels for my poker playing?

Any online resources on this or related questions?

    Thanks

Never got the hookup on hotels for playing but I played mostly at Ballys when I was there and really enjoyed it. They ran 7-8 1/2 games, and this was in dec when im sure it was much slower than when you would be going. I like ballys because the poker room was right in the center of the casino and they would announce to the whole casino when there were open seats so it kept the tables full of good action.

As far as hotel Excalibur was awesome for the price. Around $35 a night and it wasn't that bad since you probably wont be there much anyways. And its also on the good side of the strip.

I agree that Bally's is good for 1-2NL and that is where I normally stay/play. The only bad thing is all Harrah's properties take an extra dollar per drop than other Vegas rooms. They rake 10% up to $5 & $1 for badbeat jackpot or $6 total. Harrah's Props include: Bally's, Rio, Caesar's, Flamingo, IP & Planet Hollywood.
I liked MGM grand a few years back when I was there. $4+1 drop and they have a big comfortable room with good game selection for 1-2NL. Room is near the entrance and the rest of the casino. I have heard good things about Venetian & Wynn, but never been there. I have always wanted to try Mandalay Bay, but am rarely that far south on the strip anymore.

Here is a very good reference site for Vegas poker trips: Las Vegas Poker Rooms Reviews, Tournaments, No-Limit Holdem

I'm planning my first time vegas vacation for December. Checked out a few hotels, but not sure yet where to stay. Any one stayed at either luxor or mirage? or any other recommendations are also welcome.

Stay on the strip at the best hotel you can afford. I liked Bill's Gamblin' House and will stay there again next June. It's all about price.

    Play at the Venetian

Venetian has $99/$109 per night, if you can play 6+ hours at their Poker Room. Rake is good there, plus, you can get Comp for $1/hr per play with your player's card. Wynn doesn't have much offer. 1/3 NL Game is very good there, soft since they running the most 2/5 NL game in town. And their daily and weekly Tournies are Awesome, average 1st price is beyond $5K per daily.

i played at monte carlo 5 years ago... rooms were extremely cheap if you reserved thru the poker room and played 5 hours a day. i'm talking $50 a night. i don't know about nowadays. the location is pretty great, right on the strip next to nyny, but since it's a small room you don't get as much of a stream of fish like at ballys or mgm. for other vegas room reviews, i usually find a lot of current info at allvegaspoker.com.
