    Default Discussion: Set-mining and Overset-mining

It's been my inclination to play pairs JJ+ for set value regardless of sidecards, so long as the pot isn't 3-bet. I figured that I was likely to get my 10x postflop fairly easily in most cases. But thinking about it now, I suppose since sets won't win anywhere near all of those pots I should look for something more like 20x?

That means position and sidecards are more important than I've been treating them for these hands. What's your take? Do you play any of these hands for set-mining value when OOP with decent sidecards? When IP with crappy sidecards? If so, what is the lowest pair you'll do this with?

I will sometimes fold KK, a little more often QQ and JJ, esp if I don't want to raise them.

IP if the pot is multiway I'll usually play 8s and up, I won't bother with a hand like 9932 if it's folded to me on the CO unless there is some extreme goof in the blinds.

Depends a lot on the table.
