Hate to link other sites, but this is a great post to help a full ring player adjust to shorthanded play.

Ltrain… are you spamming for 2+2 or what it's cool to mention a post and talk about it here but it's not cool to just send traffic over there saying nothing here...

Seriously if you are going to make an outside post at least ask our opinions on the article you are referring to otherwise it seems like you want to direct traffic from here to there and send it there the Admin's here I don't think would like that very much...

I dont think there is anything wrong about it. I've done it several times before and if its a good link I'll do it again.

It would be different if Ltrain had just registered and only has a few posts.

I don't care if he makes the posts to the links but at least have some discussion behind it, I know that the Admin's don't mind unless it's like just links and nothing here to contribute to THIS site you know...

All I ask is that we talk about it some instead of just send people over to that board, it’s cool to make posts that link but at least get some discussion about the good and bad points of the post in OUR opinion here at FTR…

Well, I'm glad I can honestly answer all those questions and not have to second guess myself on any of them. Also, it'd be pretty annoying to have answer all those damn questions.

Its really one of my pet peeves; instead of actually going out and learning how to play or whatever they sit there and ask these things to be spoonfed to them. You're more likely to understand and learn the game when you can do it yourself.

I understand your point and am just trying to help. I am not obviously trying to promote a product or service, but trying to assist in making us all better poker players. If you think the posts will create a problem, your or I can remove them.

Some things to consider:

1. There is a lot of good basic information here that is very condensed and that can start all sorts of discussion on proper shorthanded basics and theory. Your follow up email backs up this point.
2. Other posters have carried over information from that forum before, if it is helpful, why not show that we are up to date on the different theories or information? Almost all players that are serious about playing poker already know that forum exists IMO anyway. The advantage of this forum is a more intimate forum to discuss poker views and not get lost in the shuffle. Why would the other forum present a threat to smaller, more focused discussion?
3. Besides a section on shorthanded play in King Yao's book, there really are no good books that can teach shorthanded play. You have to take classic poker theory and strategies, and apply them to each card, each hand and each player. As a result IMO, the theories are still evolving and many points of view are needed in order to flesh out what is the "proper" play.
4. I agree starting hand charts can create a false sense of security and encourages plays without thinking, but players have to start somewhere.

Again, if these posts present a problem in any way with you anyone here, I apologize and I will remove the posts.

I think the links are okay. He's not a new forum member with no posts and has contributed to other poker discussions here.
