Villain is 38/16, fold to 3bet 0%(4) agg 1.8 Agg Freq 23% over 75 hands. Have seen him shove pre with AA and call a 3bet with AK. No other notes.

I don't mind this line if we think this guy likes to bet air in position, though I prefer to b/f flop, c/f turn and c/f river against someone who's calling most Ax to a 3bet.

Really? Based on stats, I think this guy calls a lot of crap we dominate to our 3bet, while he likely 4bet shoves QQ+ and flats AK. Seems like a perfect 3bet spot to me.

because you are expecting to be called almost all of the time yet don't have a plan for what to do on flops containing an overcard to your pair. Also, his ep range is going to be a lot stronger than you seem to be giving him credit for (say 77+/AQ+?) and none of it is folding.

The 3b is fine if you have already decided what you're doing on various flop textures, but not if you're just 3-betting for the sake of 3-betting JJ cos that's what you're "supposed" to do

You really have to ask yourself what he would be raising from utg+1. Hint: it's not 38% of hands.
The flop and river c/c sucks. A b/f, c/f or a c/r would have been better. You may be oop but you have initiative in the hand so I'd throw out a c-bet at about 2/3 pot on the flop.

If he's running 38/16 or even 39/16 then he's not raising 38% of his hands from EP. Prolly more like 10%ish.

i actually think C/Cing the river is optimal as played. villain can be betting 9's or 8's because he/she has no idea about value-betting. and can also have some air given how weak OP's line looks. we don't have to have the best hand very often given the ridiculous price we are getting.

I agree that as the hand was played a c/c on the river is prolly best. I was just trying to make a point that, imo, there were a few better ways to play the hand than using such a weak line.

Not to belabour a point as I do understand what you are getting at but.......my HEM hud keeps stats on opponents positional raising. It shows he raises from MP 39%.

This time he showed A7o.

I totally agree with everything else being said in that I could have played the hand alot better.

Money. Pre is good, cbet flop. As played I call river .
