I'm weary of buying a game blind like I did Diablo 3.
Also, bigredders, nothing is cheaper than free.

So I'm in between the one and two game rental subscription. I've read that gamefly is great except for the turn around time for a new game so most people suggest getting the two game rental so you can play one while waiting for the next. Thoughts?Quote:

The unlimited PC feature...it's great for old games that I meant to try, but it doesn't have anything that's recent. For example, the ones that have caught my eye are the original versions of Fallout, Deus Ex, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, and Civ4.
Also, I think you have to be a member for a while, but they also have a 3 game plan that's just a couple dollars more than the 2 game plan.

I enjoy it as much as I enjoyed D3 up to this point. The story is completely ignorable, the dungeons and mobs are varied and cool, the skill trees all look awesome and the gameplay is on par.Quote:

The one thing I've noticed immediately is what seems like an orgy of stats from coming from D3. In D3 end game eq would give like a 3% bonus to damage, in this game your opening skills boost you 5%. I'd bet if I dumped everything into Dex + Vit I'd have like 75% dodge and crit with an asston of life by the end game.
Also, set eq is handled better by being lower key. I've had a few random items from Haunted sets or some such where a few pieces with the same title give a pretty sweet bonus.
I've had fun, but I can't say how it'll pan out. Berserker is awesome though.

I'm on veteran softcore and I think I've died about 5 times.
Giving the official thumbs up on TL2.
I was fighting against these indomitable yeti wizards that have a couple of spells, and each of the spell mechanics made me think "these are way better than any of the mobs in the whole of D3"
And I'm only like a scratch into the game.
elite hardcore is f impossible. i shoulda made a beserker instead of an ember mage
Berserker's one tree is effing packed with stuff that heals. I can summon an additional healing panther, I can dash through mobs and heal, and my crits heal me from when my rage-bar fills up.
TL2 is great.
I just fought the Manitcor. It summons little bat things and throws tornadoes around, along with being huge. He's a monster in his own right.
Takes a few rounds of transforming my panther with some fish, summoning a health-sapping second panther, plus my god-mode bersker mode to get him down to half health and he summons Manticor's wife.
It was a mix of delightful aw-fuck. TL2 is much more fun than D3.
Note to self: red barrels do not make good cover
Ok, waiting on RAM delivery but should hopefully have a new gaming PC ready for some Friday night gaming.
I plan on purchasing:
- Counter Strike: GO
- Arma II and then installing Day-z Mod
- Firefall Beta - got into Beta already, just need to install and play

I would recommend against buying ArmaII just for DayZ. The standalone is soon to go into pay to play beta, similar to the pricing scheme used by MineCraft. The Standalone should be a ton better too.

CS: Global offensive: it's counter-strike but meh. I don't know if i'm old or what but when I fire my bullets they don't seem to it. I've spent way too much time messing with my config files,etc trying to tweak it so things feel normal. Typical CS.
Firefall: So far seems kinda cool but it's a beta. It's basically tribes meets WoW but free to play.
Day-z: Took me forever just to get this installed correctly. Half the servers I join don't load my character and try to start me anew. Zombies kick the shit out of me because I can't find anything decent to kill them with. I run around in the woods for hours on end, lost, scared, pissed off. THIS GAME IS AWESOME.
BTW...re:dayz....try joining a server at night. The stars are beautiful but it's scary as shit.
Question: Could I install the old half life and play the old CS? Do people still play this?

Torchlight 2 is entirely more fun. TL2 gives you an orgy of ways to beat the game, and a whole slew of challenges that make it difficult. The battle-play is more imaginative and the item system is clearly more exciting.Quote:

Galaga in the arcade and later on mame.
Tetris on various devices.
Tomb Raider Series and Max Payne.
Bought a force feedback steering wheel and played TOCA and Rally Sport Challenge.
Bought Need For Speed and never used it.
Bought Flight Unlimited twice, never used either copy.
Still play Age of Empires Rise of Rome.
But the Modern multi player war games just don't interest me.
So Wednesday night I put my cc into PSN. I got drunk last night... somehow managed to order Assassin's Creed III Season Pass... which I thought was just the game... now I have to buy the fucking game, since i have the Season Pass... praise lee for cyber monday's and such.

There are games that only take a few minutes to finish a session. There's one called Wordament in which each complete game is on a 2-minute timer. Think it's just for Windows Phone, though.Quote:

Asus Transformer Prime. It rocks. But my Dad got a Nexus 7, based on my suggestion, also made by Asus. For a 7" tablet, it's the best value for the money right now. You'll love it.
Note that the Nexus 7 does NOT have a front-facing camera, however. But who takes pictures with tablets?
yeah, thats the only downside it has, and its not a downside at all for me. i looked at the asus AT700 and AT300 and liked them both, but i like the form factor (and cost) of the 7" better for what i'll use it for.
