Yeah definitely. The rink is pretty awesome, it's an outdoor arena type thing with boards and there's always about a dozen random hockey grinders out there and even a goalie in full gear suited up taking shots. It's like a Molson Canadian commercial.
Took a much needed day off yesterday and didn't play a single hand of poker. I did a four-hour body workout and then played over an hour of pickup hockey at the outdoor rink nearby. I will have to take pics of the rink because the ice is amazing for an outdoor facility. My only hockey experience is playing on the river near my house when I was growing up, I never played in a league as I focused on all the other sports (hockey is also ridiculously expensive and your parents have to give up their own lives to drive you to practice nonstop....it's kind of insane that so many Canadian kids do play hockey since it's by far the most restrictive and 'elite' of all sports if you want to make a serious go of it). I also watched Milos Raonic crush again and I'm pretty excited to watch him play Roddick in a couple hours in the Finals of the Memphis ATP Tour event. I have been betting him pretty strong lately and it's fun to have him come through in tough spots. He's almost a 3-1 dog (realistically he's probably a bigger dog than that) so I'm only going to be making some small sentimental bets on him (gotta ride the rungood till it bucks).
Healthwise the four hour body stuff is really getting me excited. I can already visibly see a noticeable difference in my body and I'm finally starting to burn some of the fat that I've been unable to get rid of since I dropped from 205 pounds to 175. I've gotten used to not having all the carbs/sugar highs and I'm no longer even craving dessert. On a more negative note, a few days ago I noticed a strange pressure/ringing in my left ear, and it's only gotten worse over the past few days. I read up about it online and it seems like I may have something called Tinnitus which is an incurable ringing in one of your ears that can even lead to deafness. Kind of scared the shit out of me but it seems there's nothing I can do unless I luckbox and it's something else. I intend on seeing a doctor tmr to get to the bottom of it. It drove me crazy for the first few days and I could barely sleep but I seem to be dealing with it a little better (I can sleep now). Still mega-tilting.
During my last 1/2 session I found myself incredibly bored and making some FPS plays and just wasn't sharp at all, so I figured it was time for another shot at 2/4.

yeah that was an epic match start to finish. Not shipping the chance he had in the 1st set tiebreak got to him but whatever Roddick played really well imo and he still had trouble with Raonic, so that bodes well for him versus other top 10 opponents. I'm already so psyched for Wimbledon it's insane. Raonic serve + grass = destruction.
I feel like compared to the first set or early in the first set.. other than that one 150mph beast he had.. his serve dropped off quite a bit more than roddick's did.
I guess with more experience, he'll be able to keep it up throughout the match. But yah def good match. Could have easily gone the other way.
Yeah his 1st serve struggled in 3rd set.
Anyway, today's been a mixed bag of a day. Went to doctor's and got some stuff for my ear/hearing problem, so far it seems to be a bit better so that's a big win. Bad is that i haven't played any poker today as I had to clean up my place as my landlord already started having visits which sucks. I'm starting to lose ground in the rakerace so hopefully I can get in an evening session and get this month turned around.
one thing i dont think i asked you about, but what are you taking for supplements other than protein during this diet?
Any suggestions for that? I read Bulletproof Knees and Mike Robertson recommends a bunch of stuff: Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Greens Plus, Vitamins C, E, Selenium and Fish Oils. I'm not sure how I feel about taking so many pills, you have any knowledge on those Andy?Quote:

If you are weight training then there is a lot more to it. Basically if you are weight training, it is hard to go wrong with a multi-vitamin, creatine, glutamine, and whey protein. You can mix the creatine and glutamine into one of your protein shakes, so you really are only taking 1 pill a day.
If you want to get more serious about nutritional stuff, there is a lot you can do but that is all really catered towards your specific body, you dont really want to just start supplementing a bunch of nutrients without knowing your own levels.
Ok yeah, your other post mislead me into thinking you were into taking a lot of supplements :P.. But yeah I think I'll take multivitamin, whey protein, and glucosamine/chondroitin which is supposedly good for joint health. Not a fan of creatine.
yea i mean right now im trying some different stuff front the book 4 hour body that dyl mentioned, but im just seeing how it goes for a month or so before really committing to anything other than the basics. what are your issues with creatine? i know a lot of people i talk to irl seem to have some view of creatine that it is a horrible thing, but ive really never found anything scientific saying that it is bad. also, the glutamine is good for recovery, so if you are working out regularly, it is something to consider.Quote:

Spent 2 hours at the bank today trying to wire money to a new site and also to get them to sign a moneybookers form which would increase my transaction limits. It continues to amaze me how skeptical and hesitant normal people are when they hear the words 'poker player'. Two hours later everything was settled though so hopefully I can get to grinding a bit more on a faster site starting next month. There's also the Betfair GSOP that starts that I'm interested in. I might even look into selling a bit of myself to lower the variance since it looks like most the buyins are 300$+. It would definitely be nice to ship a tournament to kickstart 2011.
Are you taking PAGG? Im trying that now, and its meant for cutting body fat which seems right in line with what you are looking for. For supplements, I typically just go through Amazon or Bodybuilding.com
Yeah I was comparing whey prices the other day and bodybuilding.com was unbeatable even when factoring in 17$ shipping to Canada. Ended up getting Syntha-6 based on 2p2 reccomendations, hopefully its decent. It cost 55$ for 5.9p, 100$ is a bit fishy Dyl :P haha
Hah yeah I will follow your and andy's advice from now on. I should generally just do the opposite of what my intuition tells me to do.
So I got some creatine and L-Glutamine, gonna add that to my protein shakes and see if it helps any. Also will look into some fat cutting stuff, but I don't want to overwhelm myself right now so going to go a bit at a time.
Quick update : Poker has been kind of bland past few days, up a bit but haven't played as much as I like.
Saw 'Barney's Version' last night based on Mordecai Richler's famous novel. It's set in Montreal and Paul Giammati and Dustin Hoffman were pretty awesome. It was a few minutes too long and some of the music was way too schmaltzy but either than that it was good. One scene even had me getting a bit emo. It was the scene where Barney finds his dad's dead body (not much of a spoiler).
Anyway, I hopefully fixed my tax problems with the CRA and yesterday I had a consultation with a mortgage broker. She was surprisingly confident that I can get a mortgage pre-approval (I explained that I was a poker player - standard response of fascination and a bit of "you can make money doing that?"). Now I just need to get all my funds in one place, and wait three months. If I only knew this a while ago it would be no problem, but now it's gonna be tough because I have some RSPs that are stuck and there's some people that owe me money that are a bit tight on things so the next short while will be a huge grind to get my funds in one place and bink this mortgage. Right now it seems a bit optimistic to get a place for this summer but I will wait and see.
Note for other poker plays interested in buying real estate: It seems that for Canadians that don't have 'stable declarable income', you need a co-signer (preferably a co-buyer that will sign on the actual purchase not just mortgage) and 20% down. So I'm looking at having to put aside just over 50-55k.
Never heard back for my second job interview with a potentially awesome job, so that was too bad especially since it seemed like a sure thing to at least get another interview but on a more positive note I had my degree transfer accepted at Concordia so school prospects look good for the fall.

Huge grind today. 4k hands, was up 2k at one point then dropped a bunch but made a comeback to finish +1.4k on day. With all the EV whining I do, I should mention I ran 500$ ABOVE ev, I definitely had some lapses which are to be expected when you put in a 7 hour day but overall I'm pleased with my play. 3k of those hands were on Betfair and I'm really excited at how many hands I'm going to be able to play due to their amazingly fast software. There's also a new reload bonus on PKR which I intend to grind at the same time but I am intending on moving most of my action full time to Betfair. Right now I feel like a kid at a candy store with all the potential bonuses/promos going on so I'm waking up grind on the mind. I'm also going to try to play some of the Ongame GSOP events starting on sunday so the next 2 weeks should be big poker weeks for me if all goes well.

As for your situation, you guys have a much lower income tax (good) but there's no gray area about poker winnings (bad). I think you're looking at 30%ish? Really no clue. My only advice would be not to procrastinate or be shy about it and seek out professional help and just be open and honest about it all. Since you're a student you will also be eligible for a ton of tuition deductions so you may not be sending much $$$ at all IRS.
Another huge grind today. Played pretty much all day except for a stop at the gym. 3.5k hands on Ongame and then 2.3k on PKR, all of that for a total of +800. I'll take it and despite not playing my A game 100% of the time because of these 6+hour sessions, I really just need to keep my nose to the grindstone and grind hard for the foreseeable future. I also did a great job not playing 2/4 even though I was tempted very hard when things were boring the crap out of me on PKR. So far this month I'm +8k at 1/2 and -5.5k at 2/4. Hopefully I've learned my lesson. My winrate is just so much bigger at 1/2 for now and with the bonus whoring I've got going on there's no reason to 'challenge' myself with 2/4 when money is important.
Groundhog day tmr hopefully. I don't expect to put in as many hands as I have to show some people around my appartment and then there's some hockey games/UFC at night but I still am gonna try to play 4k hands minimum.

So far it's taken 12k hands of 1/2 to grind 7.5% of a big bonus I only have till the start of April to get. If my math is right, that means I need to grind 100/7.5x12 = 160K hands in March to clear it. 31 days in march, let's say 2 days entirely off, so 160/29 = 5.5k hands/day, a very achievable goal.
Cue 1/2 ironman steady grinding........

wow sick goal for March, I hope you took today off! I'm likely reinforcing what you already thought of, but remember to take great care of your body by exercising and making really smart food choices. What's the max number of tables you'd have open? Seems like it's gonna be 8-10 hour days of online grinding, which sounds really challenging -- I'm obviously rooting for you to succeed!

Motivation! Got a late start today but I wanted to give myself a bit of a cushion for March so put in 4.2k hands. +500 after being down 1k about 3k hands in so pretty happy. Busted the 100$ rebuy GSOP Event #2 today so that sucked since I got it in a 90% favourite on the flop. But if I cash in the next couple NL events I still have a chance for the Betfair Live Tallinn, which would be a huge blast.
I am on a super strict diet and exercise plan so I don't foresee any problems in that area. It really makes such a huge difference when you are able to see the gains you make from eating well and working out. I should have some good before/after pics to post up here soon. I want to wait a couple more weeks as I will hopefully put on a bit more muscle now that some of the fat is gone.
One poker related problem I foresee is autopiloting and generally being way too loose the longer into a session I am. I noticed myself auto-snapping reraises with KQo towards the end and auto-stacking off when I flopped a pair which is probably a bit sub-optimal even though these games are sick aggro and I feel I am owning people generally. You know it's a good sign when you hesitate before making a thin river shove only to get SNAPPED off, assume you lost, and then have the pot shipped to you. The biggest difference between 1/2 and 2/4 players is that 1/2 people just can't fkn find the fold button postflop.
Time to head to the gym and then contemplate maybe a night session. I need a headstart on the epicness that is going to go down in March!
Quick update:
Day 1: Only 4k hands, but also was playing a tournament Event 3 of the GSOP and mincashed that keeping me in the running on the leaderboard.
I moved the tables up to 11 just to try it out, and it wasn't feasible with a HUD but without a HUD I can do it although I risk timing out in some spots. Not sure if I'll be able top play tonight to reach my 5.5k mark but we'll see.
Why does hud have such a big impact? just freezes up your tables that much?
Are you running the hud with the "force on top" clicked?
My Hud freezes the client as well. I can open 6 tables and play fine and close them no problem, but once I have HM and hud running I can no longer open any new tables and can only play the remaining tables. They just freeze as black windows with the logo and never open. It's possibly a Ram problem for me. It sucks because sometimes I end up on only 3 tables with great seats and down't want to leave.
Sounds like a Ram problem, mine work fine, but when i'm playing 11 tables there's overlap and when I'm clicking on a table I will click on their hud stats and the pop up stats show up and then I have to click again over and over again and it slows me down and I time out more. That and when I'm 11 tabling I'm not using the HUD all that much anyway so it does me more harm than good. If there was a way to prevent the pop-up stats maybe it would be feasible.
On a life note, all this poker has been making me incredibly tired. Yesterday I played a lot then had a basketball game and I just felt utterly destroyed waking up this morning. Poker definity exhausts you more than you would think. I would like to address Vi-Zeroskill's awesome blog post about the moral challenges of being a professional poker player, but I don't really have enough time right now to do it justice. I'll just say that I relate to a lot of that, and I also feel pretty helpless when it comes to finding something that I have a passion for and that helps society.
Maybe another day I can go into it in more detail as it's something me and Genitruc have talked about quite a bit. Basically our rationalization has been 'become financially independent and then do something good with your money'. You mention the pop ups causing grief. I have mine set to "click to open" because Ongame was brutal for slowing down and freezing up when I started playing there if they would open when I just hovered over a stat.
So, zero poker today for me except for the GSOP event (busted pretty early since it was Omaha hi/lo rebuy and half the time was spent trying to figure out if I had a low draw or not) but it was a draining day in a different way as I completed a kind of exam type thing for a job application. I wish I could write more about the application but unfortunately I don't think it'd be appropriate or in my best interests :( . I think I needed a day off poker anyway and tomorrow I will be back at it. Pretty soon I`m going to need a day on the slopes or some kind of reprieve from staring at my computer all day long as today was the first day in a while where my eyes were sore and I felt pretty restless. This means another day off and while my March goals were nice and ambitious, they're just not very realistic. I am hereby amending March hand requirements to 120k hands. That would still be a good total and I have the first week in April to finish the bonus off anyway.

Not gonna write a long whiny post, but today was a pretty stressful poker day. Suffered one of those numb "is this really happening?" points in the session where one fish on one table took 7, yes 7 straight buyins from me in 3 orbits. Basically he stacked me every other hand which stuff like 74 vs my 77, 44 vs my AA, Q10 all in pre vs my AA etc. Anyway, I made a comeback at the end of the session and despite a ton of KK into AAs and the like, I can't feel too bad about being 5.5 BIs under EV and still not losing too much. My biggest barrier right now is playing on a super thin roll due to all the money i've cashed out for the condo. I just really can't suffer these huge swings without risk of going busto, so a heater right about now would be great! ONE TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Just a little late night note. Played a late night mini session, 1.6k hands, -300 but was down 1k right away mostly getting into 4-bet shoving wars vs regs who always seemed to have it. This seems to be my biggest problem so far since the site change. I've gone from playing a pretty solid game to being thrown into the wild 5 max games on Ongame. I've tried varying my 3-bet from 7% all the way up to 15% and while I like playing around ~13% which is what I've been doing lately, the biggest problem is that I always figure 'he must be getting sick of me 3-betting so he will FINALLY 4-bet me with air' so then I call off a stack with 10s and they still always have it. I'm not sure if that's just variance or if I'm going to have to start making bigger folds. Basically I'm not folding 99+ in any kind of cutoff/button/sb/bb raising war and I'm 4-bet shoving a lot of suited Axs whenever i'm in SB and BB 3-bets. So far all that nice suited equity hasn't exactly worked in my favour, but I do notice a couple regs getting it in lighter vs me which I think is a good thing. Ideally I want the current dynamic to flip-flop...so that they think I'm getting it in way lighter than I actually am so I can tighten up a tiny bit and win the AIPF wars which is where I am losing/running bad.
Anyway, tomorrow I have to help a friend move so not sure how much poker I'll get to play if any. I'm going to have to put in some insane grind days in the near future to get back on pace for 120k hands this month. Already 5 days in and I've only played 12k hands :( . Sunday I can hopefully sneak in a 7k hand day or something sick while I play the big mill.
Day off today...I helped a friend move and then went and saw The Adjustment Bureau.
It's the early favourite for worst movie I will see this year ainec. I don't even know where to begin, but I will say that that last 10 minutes had me and my friend LOL'ing in the theatre out of fascination that someone could possibly write those words in a script and people making the movie would go along with it. Maybe I'm just a skeptical insensitive ass, but every moment from 30 mins on was near unwatchable. I mean, wtf Matt Damon, I caught a few clips of Bourne Identity on TV last night and said to myself 'damn Damon can be awesome' and conned myself into going today. Sigh. I'm confident that when he reads this blog and sees my disappointment, he will do a complete career 180.
Tomorrow should be a huge day, I get to win the Sunday Mill and also have a great day grinding cash. Can't wait!

Emotinally, today was another pretty frustrating day. I have that 'world is against me' feeling that I'm having trouble shaking. Went relatively far in the ongame 200$ GSOP today, last 100 out of 2000. That's now 4 out of the 5 GSOP NL events that I've cashed in but have yet to get near final table. I was chip avg with AKs UTG +2 and UTG minraises = fistpump shove. But since I was playing cash at the same time so not paying as much attention as I should, I thought the UTG was actually the BB so I just went to do my normal 2.5x and thus minraised instead of shoving. He of course peeled and sucked out on me with A9o and that was that. It felt like a terrible way to bust since my own mistake instead of the usual variance probably cost me a lot of $$$, when my roll is so vulnerable.
I also played and busted the mil JJ<AQ and the friend who I staked busted in the first 5 mins set over set. So that sucked.
I played cash throughout the entire day and seemed to lose every flip and every preflop cooler, but the games were too good to conceivably lose money so at least the day itself was salvaged despite having high hopes for a big score. I also have 10% of Alexos in the Mill and he's above avg stack and in the payout. ONE TIME!!!!!(this march).
I am definitely in the grind mentality which is good after a day off, so I might even play more.

Good link...let's just say my poker game has too much in common with this year's Raptors. Gonna go play some hockey then hit the tables this afternoon. Quick update: Just played one of the more epic sessions in recent memory. I finished the session with 400bb or more at 6 of my 10 tables. At one point I dropped 10 STRAIGHT Buyins to lose 2k in about 30 minutes....instead of going into fml world is against me mode, I kept a pretty level head and absolutely destroyed a couple regs HU on a few tables that had broken while i played the other fishies and staged a great comeback for me. Pretty proud of myself. Proof in the garph!

Meh meh meh. 4.7k hands today, 800$ under EV for -2 BI. Not sure how great I played, but I felt like variance owned me pretty hard today. I thought I could have a peaceful grind, but it's pretty impossible on ongame and I'm seeing huge swongs - 5-10 BIs up and down etc. Just gonna have to ride it out. The good part in all this is that again today I was saved by a couple weak regs and some fish that gave me their stacks. Soccer game tonight so that should help de-tilting me. Our team has yet to win a game, we're 0-5-1 so far this year so hopefully tonight we can pop our winless cherry.

Thanks guys. I got my gunnar glasses today so will put those to the test this afternoon. I feel like i'm on the home stretch of getting my condo downpayment together. I'm just a few k short of getting it in and if all goes well that will be a huge relief and I can stop withdrawing which hopefully means I won't be playing on such a thin roll which has made this more stressful than it has to be.
Ongame nl 200 is pretty soft, way softer than Stars/Tilt but the best part about it is how fast the software is so you can get tons of hands in without having to play all day. It is incredibly agressive preflop (I think I'm playing the most aggro I've ever played in 5 years and I still think there are ppl more aggro than me at a few tables) so you definitely need to be prepared for sick swings/variance.

I fully believe that you are in fact on a bad run, but how much analysis have you put into your game recently? I know that I personally used to use running bad as an excuse for not needing to work on anything, and when i ran good I didnt care enough to work on my game, both of which combined to really stagnate my progress in general. Its way easier said than done, and Ive had some bad tilt recently that didnt really affect my play but definitely affected my mood, especially today, but the thing I always try to remember is that you cant change your luck but you can improve your skills so luck matters less.

Yeah you're absolutely right, and I shouldn't of posted immediately after a uber tilting session. I went to the gym and feel better now. In all honesty though, I think I am playing extremely well, noted by the fact I am getting it in crushing over and over again and I'm rarely feeling 'lost'. There's maybe one reg that I think might be better than me and I'm 12 tabling so that should say a lot.
I mean I could post the hands I lost today as proof, but it'd just be masochistic and trying to prove to you all that I run worse than everyone in the history of poker (unlikely). So I'll just look at the bright side, I put in 4.5k hands again today, I'm up on the month and I'm playing well. I've put in 40k hands so far, and if my goal is 120k hands on the month I'm really not too far off pace which is awesome.
Lastly...as far as analyzing my game. Ideally I would do session reviews etc.. but right now in my predicament I really feel as though volume is more important than maybe shoring up a couple small holes in my game. I know I can beat this stake easily, and when (hopefully) I move back up to 2/4-5/10 I will definitely be putting way more time into analyzing my play.
Haha thats exactly what I did today, and it really helped. Just got back into lifting after not doing it for awhile and this week killed my body, but I stuck to my schedule and am taking 3 days off now to see how well the soreness goes away. Today when I went I just did about 30min of cardio which almost feels more rewarding to me than lifting because i hate cardio so much and then sat out in the outdoor hot tub in the snow and when I got back home was in a much much better mindset.
A lot of this is actually what I was going to say to Alex in response to his post saying that he doesnt need to study because he is playing lower. But basically, I dont doubt you are playing well, but I do doubt you are playing as well as you can be. I dont expect you to be a jungleman and spend every waking moment thinking about poker, but I find it hard to believe you really need to choose between volume and studying when studying could even mean just an hour or two extra a day. I think I will save a lot of what I am saying for my own blog post, which probably wont get any views, haha, but basically my point is that I dont think it is an either/or situation and if this is what you want to do for a living, especially with the obligation of a mortgage on the line, I think it would be prudent to find the time to put in volume _and_ study
Definitely something I'll think about. I still 'think' about poker...as in I'm looking at regs stats (I'm 12 tabling without a HUD) and making sure my stats are within an optimal range. Postflop tbh I think you're underestimating how easy the games are. The regs are just so straightforward postflop so preflop is where you need to make sure you're not getting exploited and then it's easy game from then on. The fish are bad so it's just bet bet bet with the nuts and b/fold without them. I think it's important to take a look at the 2 or 3 biggest winners in your games once you have a bunch of hands on them, but beyond that I don't think the time I would put in studying would be more +ev than using that time to put in another 1.5k hands/day. Just my 0.02$.
Also, GUNNAR glasses! huge win so far, less squinting, everything seems a bit more clear and magnified. They're a bit weird at first but after 10 mins it seems strange to not have them on. Whether it's placebo effect or not, I am happy with my purchase. I also look like a bit of a ninja in them (red rocket frames ftw) so yeah, I already feel like I'm a better player.

Quick update, Saturday was spent mostly eating, drinking, eating some more and watching the Leafs make an epic comeback at Genitruc's place to stay in the playoff hunt. I also busted our 10$ sit n go among friends on the BUBBLE costing me at least 8$ in EV by making an aggressive play. Needless to say I was not pleased.
I played the 162$ GSOP event (busted top set vs FD) and only got in 2.6k hands (-200, 800 under EV wheeee yes I'm still bitter). Tomorrow I hope to get in 4k hands and then have a big week starting monday.

Bleh, ugly frustrating day. Doomswitch obv arrived and I didn't play nearly well enough to avoid a terrible day. -1.7k, 5k hands. I was breakeven after 4k hands which is pretty frustrating but then tilt/variance caught up with me (i was running above EV just to remain afloat). I guess I should be happy i ran at EV to lose that much? I just got pair over paired a million times and consistently got overpairs cracked. That + making some definitely bad calls where I knew I got sucked out on but had to see it and it makes for -9 buyins. Bleh
For how badly I played yesterday, I somewhat redeemed myself by playing very well today, reminding me that there's really no excuse for days like yesterday. I wish I could watch myself play yesterday to pinpoint the exact stuff I did terribly, but generally I get into 'unstuck' mode and I'm just playing too loose and willing to take any flip (if I think it's flip that is and it often isn't) instead of making the most +EV play. Basically today I just told myself I was no longer going to get it in with stuff like 77/88 vs this one reg who I had gotten into huge spewing wars with, I tightened up, he didn't adjust and I ended up getting it in great a lot vs him. Obviously he will adjust, but generally speaking I don't need to play as high variance as I have been.
3.6k hands, +1.2k today. I'm behind my 120k hands pace but still on pretty good bonus whoring pace.
Also, on another positive note, I did end up binking the Betfair Live Tallinn package which is 750$ cash + 550 euro main event buyin on April 15th. Actual flight+hotel is around 1.5k so it would still be an expense but I'm considering doing it depending on how the next week or two go.

Had a pretty epic soccer league game tonight, we were down 3-1, then 4-2 with like 5 mins left and came back to tie it up 4-4 (we still have yet to win a game all year) so that was pretty fun. The people that run the league are also middle-easterners and I must say it feels strange to be the minority and I can feel this 'us versus them' mentality in our team that is kind of lame but I really don't know how it came about/what to do about it. It goes without saying that I'm not rascist and try to get along with everyone, but at a certain point you have to stop being nice to people just because you don't want to seem unfriendly to foreign cultures and treat them the same I would some of my more generic Canadian upbringing (i.e. play competitively without worried about hurting their feelings).
Anyway, for the most part I hadn't taken any of this seriously and just told myself not to care and just get some exercise, but tonight it obviously had some kind of impact on me for me to bring it up in the blog.

Yeah every day I have at least 6-10 buyin swings...and always straight up or straight down. My monthly graph is ridiculous. I put in another 2.2k hands for -700, I actually ran above EV and just never had the best hand. Oh well at least I got in 5k hands today. I made a bit in tourneys and Genitruc binked a tourney FINALLY for 4.5k so it was super fun railing him. Tomorrow is a cheat day and there's a ton of great sports action going on so not sure how much I'll play. Maybe just put in one early session for 2k hands or something. So far 65k hands this month, I'm just a couple days behind pace but I can make it up with some 6k hand days.

Pretty good night, it was my cheat day so let's summarize what I ate today (and i'm in the best shape of my life!). Started the day with a chocolate milk/oatmeal/rockyroad whey protein/glutamine/ice shake and dipped a double chocolate chip cookie and then 3 Reeses Peanut Butter cups in it just for good measure, then topped it off with a cappuccino. Then grinded, and tonight had a beer, an awesome Napa Valley Cab Sauvignon bottle of red, a rack of ribs, a quarter chicken, a poutine, chips, then chocolate peanut butter Haegen-Das Ice cream with a massive piece of apple pie. Then I nibbled on some sour watermelon candy just for good measure.
All this while the Leafs won, BYU won, Jones and Bute crushed, so all in all a good night. Me and Genitruc toasted to his donkament success, and despite poker being sort of frustrating life ain't all bad. I could be working a terrible job and be on perma life-tilt but instead I'm free to pursue all sorts of things that let me learn stuff about my own emotions.
Tomorrow I think I'll put in another 4k hands and stay away from tournaments. Here's to playing a bit better and staying composed, Cheers!

I don't hate the show, depending on how much hero-call he has in him. I'm more worried about slow played set, 999 than a straight here.
For that AA hand, only dynamic was that he'd been winning lots versus me that session.
Anyway, today so far good day, busted the mill, but put in 3k hands for +1.5k and by far played the tightest, most disciplined I've played in a long time. I cut down from 12 to 10 tables and started folding all sorts of suited gapper stuff I realized I had been unconsciously peeling from the blinds (leak) and also tighetened up bigtime UTG and I feel it made a huge difference for me. Ran at EV, so all in all great poker day. I wanted to get in another 1k hands so we'll see if I get the urge, if not pretty content. Tomorrow is last day of a rakerace so will put in a steady grind tmr for sure and take things from there next week. I'm now 3/5ths through grinding one of my bigger bonuses so I'm on track in that respect.
Was all excited for today since it's the last day of a rakerace and wanted to make a good final push. Cue losing AK<AQ 4/4 times AIPF and then a bunch of coolers. Just when things start to go well for me, it seems this ALWAYS happens.

Something of a recent setback. Only played 2k hands yesterday and then I decided my sleep schedule was out of hand so I stayed up last night and am in the process of pulling an all nighter/dayer to get back into a schedule where I can put in a morning and afternoon sessions whereas right now I just put in long afternoon sessions. Hopefully this will pay off next week but for now it means I'm not going to get in nearly as many hands as I'd like because I don't think I'll play much today going on zero sleep. Tired = no tilt control in my experience and that usually means huge disastrous swongs for me. Now I just need to stay awake for the next 10 hours and I'll be fine....if I start making strange emo posts in a few hours it's because I've started to get into zombie hallucination mode. Don't mind me...
Not much of interest to update. I've been slacking bigtime, only plut in 3.3k hands today and took yesterday completely off. I finished third in a big rakerace for $1350 which is nice. Today I started on a mega-heater. IMMEDIATELY won 10 buyins for +2k and then did my typical heatcheck just playing why too high variance (getting it in with 77 twice in blind war 3-bet battles and 4-bet shoving suited aces in blind battles) and dropped most of it to only be down on the day. Pretty annoying.
Hopefully by next week I can get my mortgage pre-approval finally and start some serious condo shopping. I'll probably post some pics of stuff to give this blog a bit more colour since it's been pretty bland lately.
Early start today, got up at dawn and put in 4.2k hands before noon, so far running above EV and +800. Intend on putting in another 2k hands this afternoon to make up for this weeks slacking. Update to come.

Solid day, 6k hands for +1.3K. Tmr is cheat day saturday and it's gonna be great. I would post the awesome transformations the 4-hour Body has brought but I'm not sure anyone actually wants to look at me shirtless so yeah...I'll just say that the diet/workout thing has gone really well the past couple months.
Bleh, just busted 6th in Stars 50$ Turbo for 920$. I should feel good about it but there's always that 'what could have been' when it comes to busting tourneys. Got it in JJ vs A10 for the chiplead to go out, Barry fkn Greenstein Ace on the River obv. Oh well, I shouldn't have let myself drool at the thought of an unexpected 5k boost to the roll.
Business as usual, I had a couple good sessions, a good week even so I knew deathswitch was coming. I wasn't even in the mood to play today so I shouldn't even have sat, but I forced myself to put in 2k hands just to keep the habit and this happens. I definitely didn't have my A game but I got hand over handed a ton HU towards the end of the session and also lost some ridic hands.

I think not checking your results everyday would help a lot, as it's very easy to get into certain thought patterns and be subtlety tilted by them. Maybe just check once a week to start with. Avoid posting to many AA<AK hands as well imo.
