My trial on PT3 has just finished and I am looking to buy PT4 as soon as I can.
I do have a question though, the stats I have from my PT3 trial....can I upload them to PT4 once I have bought it? Or do I have to start fresh?
Edit - If I do the 60 day free PT4 trial, can I upload any stats onto that or is it better to just wait and buy it?
If I remember it right when installing PT4 you'd be given the option to import hands from PT3. Not sure if this is available for trial versions though.
have you tried HEM ? Cardrunners do a deal where you sign up for titan or party through them and rake about 100$ and you get a free month at cardruners and a free copy of hem 2. If you also sign up for truly free poker training there as well and continue playing there , you get free weeks or months access to cardrunners . Its cheaper than forking out the money for it on a 2nl bankroll.
Theres also a free month of HEM2 trial as well that you can use to continue using a HUD with while you clear the requirements.
Be careful with those free tracker sign-up deals. They can have a license lock to a specific site (Titan, for example) and the HUD will only work at that site. You have to then pay like $50 or something to unlock it for other sites.Quote:

DO you think I 'd honestly advise someone to take up a deal that ties them in so that they could only use it on one site and require a payment to unlock it for other sites.

Its targetted advice specific to the stakes that the OP is playing but it also works out as a pretty good deal for higher stakes players as well when you can get continuing cardrunners access just for playing .for titan you have to weigh up the value of the cardrunners deal versus other rake race deals at oyther affiliates. for Party alternate rb deals are banned by the network so the cardrunners training works out as a good source of extra rb and your getting training that should pay dividends in your winnings as well.
buying it outright would consume a 5nl bankroll. using the free trials of PT and HEM to use that 5nl bankroll to clear a first deposit bonus at either party or titan and it results in the training video access and a free copy of hem has to be better than paying for it outright.
Thanks for the advice Keith but I decided to just buy PT4 outright.
No reason to get super-defensive, I wasn't implying that the cardrunners deal was this way for sure, I was just throwing it out there as something to watch out for. Who knows, maybe someone reads this thread and ends up seeing some other site offer for a free tracker.Quote:

I wasn't getting defensive , I was correcting the fallacy that you were proposing that the cardrunners deal would shaft players signing up for it. Should the worst happen and their trials run out , they still needn't be without a tracker . they can utilise the free open source tracker as a stopgap.

Also you haven't addressed my other point. People looking to invest in tracking software are likely to be beginners. They probably have a small bankroll i.e playing 2 or 5nl and may not want to invest more than their bankroll in tracking software. Other people may well be willing to buy directly ,but some people cannot afford to lay out the money up front .They may not want to buy software which they would have little use for if they find they cannot beat the stakes.
By saying that you advise people to buy it outright you have catered for those people who can afford to buy it outright. My suggestion allows those people who can't afford to buy it outright to still obtain tracking software and have the bonus of free training video access as well. This may also appeal to those people who could have bought it outright , but also allows them to samle training videos as well.
Wow, I'm sorry it got this far. Just throwing something out there for people to watch out for as there is lot of deceptive "fine print" when it comes to poker related promos/deals. I don't believe I ever implicated cardrunners in being involved in such practices; if I did, I apologize.
Is it neccesary to have a HUD if you plan to play ring games? Does it really help or am I better off just using the reads that I get from the other players.
I would say a HUD is almost mandatory for ring games. Gives you reads that would be difficult/impossible to keep on your own via notes. But then again, I am fairly new to using a hud and don't get the most out of it, but I can definitely see the potential once you become more affluent with it.Quote:

whilst i agree that FTP is the place to be at the moment for the deal me in promo, my first answer was written on october 21st , 10 days before the details of deal me in were revealed.
after the 3 weeks are up though and a noob loses the 40%++ deal and is back onto the edge rewards program, their actual ongoing effective rb rate is probably going to be pretty dire. at 5% from edge and points worth ~5%.
You make the point about if you want to continue playing their you are giving up rakeback which could be worth more than than the cost of HEM/PT4. The flip side of that argument for titan/party are that they are both pretty much anti under the table deals for better rakeback.so that there is no extra rb% being foregone. you sign up play a first deposit bonus for ~30% rakeback , get the vip payments on your playand the free HEM gives a massive boost to your short term rb% rate. Thenm move on to another site where you can get a better longterm rakeback rate.

Just been reviewing my hands and realized that PokerTracker has all the wrong sums in the "Won" column. It says I have won $2.14, then when I review hand, I actually won $3.25. Says I won $0.23, review hand and I actually won $0.33???
Anyone know why it could be doing this?
Edit - Doesn't matter. Figured it out now, it takes out the money that I put into the pot so it shows what I actually "won". My bad.
Pretty sure even at 2NL or 5NL it should be possible to get higher than Bronze? Haven't looked though. Happy Hours also add an extra like 2%+ in rakeback.Quote:

Is there really that much of a difference in play on different sites at 2NL and 5NL (ex. Titan and Party). I am curious because I would assume the play would be about the same at those level no matter where you play. But maybe there is and I should start being more selective..
Quick question.
When I am reviewing a hand I have marked, it shows me the stats the player had at the end of the session. Is there a way I can get PT to show me what the players stats were at the time of the hand?
Cobra, double click on the hud when you have the replayer up and then the hud should be highlighted with a yellow line around it with the stats from that session.
Yeah that gives me the stats for the session. I will try to explain a bit more clearly.
Lets say I am 56 hands into a session. The 56th hand is the hand I want to review. I mark it for reviewing but continue playing in the same session for around 256 hands. Now, I go to review the hand, and the stats showing for villain are stats for the 256 hands. I don't want his stats after he had played a further 200 hands, I want what his stats where at the time he played the 56th hand.
