In a FR game UTG what are you guys raising with??
I am generally raising AJs+ and 1010 plus does this seem ok? Or is this too lose for FR?
Also Preflop are you ever calling a shove or shoving with AK?

im a little looser than that AJs+ AQo KQs 77+ but my range gets wider as if i feel i can get away with it KQo and 89s+ or there are bad players in the blinds.
and yes but not as standard only when the spot is right
If I were to coach a complete beginner(at 2/4/5nl) I would probably start them off with AJs+,AQo,22+, basically mring the small PPs and teaching them why. At like 100NL I think a better UTG range would be like AQs+/AKo,77+,T9s,98s,87s basically because mid suited broadways are always dominated when we get to postflop and middling SCs still play really good(way better then small PPs) since we flop something decent like 25% of the time. Also I'd stay away from the T9s type shit UTG at micros UNLESS flop was going 4way+ a lot when we mr'd because you are going to be in tonnes of horrible reverse implied odds situations.
If anyone disagrees with my 100NL std range I'd love to know why. Basically it avoids tough spots while still adding value to our UTG range. I used to be in the QJs+,AQo+,AJs+,66+ camp but I think that's doing poorer then the range I previously stated.
Meh I think 22-66 is fine since no one can fold a pair and we'll have a huge SPR going to the flop.
Ah ha QFT.
Well I would also explain to them to play very fit or fold and generally to cbet once on good boards if they felt it was profitable. If they can't be disciplined postflop they probably have no discipline pre-flop either so it doesn't really matter what we tell them :(.
Almost nO doubt this Is in your head!
This is something I struggle with too - I presume that the 4NL folks I play against adjust to me, when if I'm honest in my HH analysis there really is precious little evidence of such adjustment.
As someone who's still very new to poker and not that good post-flop, I'm really trying to get back to basics so seeing this kind of advice given to others is great, thanks! :)
Very few people have learned how to adjust at 4nl. Those who do learn this skill will be moving up very quickly.
what we're raising with doesn't matter too much. I don't have static ranges, and this isn't what you should be doing... nor should i for that matter, i think it's time to tighten up in ep, loosen up in lp and stop being retard in the blinds

nothing wrong with your nit range at all. Learn to play those hands well from ep, then expand that range as you see fit.
nothing wrong with AJs+/AQ+/88+/8Ts-QTs/89s-KQs either.
hell yeah, but obviously hugely player dependent. For example, I'm getting it in vs anyone with less than 60bb and >7%vpip pretty much always./

Greater than 7% ??? 8-14 would be a tight range right??
the AND was really important in that statement. Holding AK you're greater than 40% against a shortstack's shoving range which generally means get it in. When players are a little bit deeper I don't go auto-shoving AK just cos someone has raised once or twice.
Sup Straight,
I'm currently playing .02/.04 nl & I'm open raising only w/ 15% top hands, and 5% Low PP's & Suited connectors. If you don't have Poker Stove, you should get it. it's a great tool for Range & Equity. Just play around with it by plugging hand v.s hand contests your curious about..
Sorry i have to be quick with this one , but i'll try and throw some advice your way after i get my laptop wednesday.
!!!!!! Don't be scared to call your LAG opponents 3bets, see where the flop takes ya, thats what started helping me with my post-flop play.
uhm i don't really see where the topic of 3bets came in but definitely don't just call and 'see where the flop takes ya'
i remember you telling me that you liked to open KJs etc from utg ages ago on irc, i think when you were in thailand. I remember you saying you had talked to renton about it etc. Yaawn asked why anyone thinks this is a good idea, you're good at explaining your thoughts re poker - hence my comment. Sufficient clarification?
quickly stated they play better postflop than 77-
