you might be good here - against a good player, you better learn to not do this stuff though, or you'll get slaughtered - making bit pots with marg. hands is a loser, in the long run - your beat by a LOT of hands here...

He likes his hand, there's no draws out there, what hand makes this raise that KQ beats? Unless hes a total fish, none.

when there is betting on the flop followed by a turn raise, you usually can't continue w/ just one pair.

I do fold this most of the time. I'm probably about even on these calls.(I'm probably down, my selective memory is playing tricks on me). I may as well learn to let go of these types of hands now.

99Tom14 showed down JTo, 2nd pair and ISD. He missed the river and I took down the pot.

The reason I posted is I was hoping someone would know how to get a read out of these "maniacs?"

I guess I just need to see them play a hand this way and take note of it.

Even though someone might be a "maniac", they still follow a pattern that's logical (at least to themselves). Think of this hand in your opponents shoes with different possible hands.

Because of his VPIP, he could be playing a lot of hands, lets say he has K9.

You bet the flop for $2, he calls. His thinking is probably he could have the best hand, but isn't sure.

you bet the turn for $4, he raises to $12. How does this fit K9? It doesn't! Why would he suddenly raise when he hasn't improved on the turn?

This can be said for all Kx except K10, K5, and K8.

Lets say he has 55 preflop. lets go through logic.

you bet flop $2, he calls "wow, he'll probably bet to me on later streets lets slowplay!"

you bet turn $4, he raises $12 "okay lets make this pot bigger, money!!! yay!!!"

he might do the same thing with any two pair.


Although he ended up being a complete idiot, i still feel like this is a fold. You can't make a call there unless you have seen him showdown a midpair with similar action.

Like others have said, try not to invest a lot of money when you have a marginal hand. TP is a marginal hand.

With KQo I prefer a limp in position (suited you can raise periodically to vary your play).

On the turn facing a raise I'd have to believe you're beat. There's not a lot of hands you beat(KJ?/K9s?) and alot have you cooked (KT/K5s/55).

On top of that you still have a potential straight draw to fight off (J9/79/67) so I would dump this and wait for a better spot to get my money in.
