How long to get good?

Im at the point where i can sit down and play. But when i comes to hands i have a tought time remembering what beats what sometimes, just cause im new. Well the question that I have is how long will it take me to get good at poker and whats the best ways about doing it?

Positing in the right forum would be a good start, try the "Beginner" circle, a little farther up.

At your level, I would download one of the poker site's software and play some play money, until you learn what beats what. Then you can start to think about more stuff. Take it slow and it will come.

If you're still at that stage of your learning then play money might be best. If you're really motivated to get better though, forums like these are a great place to start getting tips, and criticism from a large audience for free. Good luck!
