Default How bad of a beat was this (first time playing)

Back story - So I played in a casino for the first time last night. The table's blind was 1.50$ / 3.00$ and there were about 8 people total. I've played plenty of facebook poker because that's the only way for me to practice anything, but only 4 times in real life with friends and relatives.

I went in with the minimum buy-in of 65$, got up to 105$ with a lucky hand (flopped a set of jacks).

But then I went back to 65$ eventually, and then quickly lost all of that in one hand.
I was dealt an A,8 suited and the other guy puts in 15$ preflop and I call.

The flop i A,3,5 and I decided to bet 50$ to scare him off but he called and went all-in! So I put my remaining 15$ into the pot and then we both turned over our cards.

He had a 2,4, which gave him a straight, and the turn and river didn't matter but I did pair both my Ace and 8.

So was this a typical bad beat or a very bad one? I felt so unlucky yesterday and even though I sat through a total of 25 rounds, I saw someone get a four of a kind.

Always assume the answer to this is "Yes" regardless of who posted it as it is almost always the case.
