I really don't see how suicide bomber is more acceptable than village rapist.

I used to sorta know how to irc script. IT would be super convenient to make werewolf bot that could record and list lynch votes, capture night time pms, etc

We should think about having 2 end post limits.

min 5, max 25 (lifted like 6 hrs before end of the day)

Then no one can under participate and no one can strangle the thread to death with a back and forth.

    double yes!

I also like the idea of having tight time limits on the first few days (say 30hr) just to keep people interested and the game moving.

I can see this working if we all made new accounts. as guests though, theres no reason for wolves to ever post
  27. #102
Yeah it wouldn't work unless everyone had a unique guest name, and in that event it wouldn't take long to figure out who was who. For example...

Boom, everyone knows guest 4 is OngBonga.

And we can figure out which one boog is because of the time he's online.

And if someone is making deliberate spelling mistakes or doing something that would normally be considered odd, that looks wolfy, like you're trying to avoid unveiling yourself.

Can't see it working myself, would be fun to try once though.

new names in a game full of regs would be pretty fun though. like really fun

it would be so easy to know who is who, but in some ways it would be kinda confusing. some of us might actually change a little just to keep from being known
  29. #104
i would take it as a challenge to figure out who everybody is. thats my kinda detective work. i think i could do it too. there would be a couple tough ones, but everybody has quirks they dont necessarily know about
  30. #105

funny thing is i have non-pathological multiple personalities. thats kind of a silly way of saying i shift my behavior quite well for the circumstances. i dont always use no-caps, in fact, i mostly use caps. i change it up a lot for the point im trying to express as well as the way im trying to have my mind think at the time

interesting fact: before ftr, my internet persona was almost exclusively just posting one liner jokes on my other main forums where the posters were generally older and had more higher education and the desire to express it. so when i came here, the posters were mostly younger and looking to goof around, so my normal goofing around didnt stick out as much. what stuck out was my analyses and explanations on different topics. so i gradually became the long-winded guy who was always expected to post some boring dissertation anytime something came up. it's pretty much only on this forum that i do that though, and i dont do it that much anymore

yall should be happy when i dont use caps or punctuation because it's more irritating to read and that influences me to try to keep it short.

If some mod can set it up so our posts only show up as "guest x" posting them, then I'm all up for it. But how to hide who is looking at the thread? I am set to invisible but apparently the mods (many of which play) can still it, or so I heard.

Or are you just gonna change our names, so we'll need to drop our avatars etc? (but then ppl can still see who we are in other posts, won't work.. make new accounts?)

New accounts or playing on another forum or message board with different names would solve the problem. It does sound fun and it's something I'd really enjoy, even if it didn't work in the end.

My WW game's mechanics are pretty much set. Im gonna think through it a couple more times to make sure the balance is good, but really im just waiting to decide on a theme.

Any cool theme ideas or special role ideas are welcome here. If they fit my game's flow, ill try to fit them in.

JKDS, last year I played the werewolf variant called Mafia (that is actually the more popular variant I believe) on another forum. Interesting was that everyone had a special role. But noone knew what roles there were, even how many mafia there were, if the village was up vs 1 or 2 teams, if there was maybe a solo playing special with his own victory conditions. Much more work for the mod but also more fun for the village as everyone gets to do something. And there was a new mechanic called visiting.

Basically if you kill someone, or inspect someone for something (or protect someone, or jail them, or roleblock them) then you visit them, and there were people with specials that allowed them to see who a certain person visited, or who a person was visited by. Ofcourse even if you got caught you could always make up a role, noone knew what roles there actually were.

After the game, the mod explained the balance of the game, by using some mathematical formula which equated the killing power of the bad guys vs the saving power of the village, and the voting power of both sides (as each had extra voting modifiers, such as a hidden double vote).

I remember there were also 2 seers, called Cops, and one of them was actually a Paranoid Cop without knowing it, so he'd always get the opposite of his look-up. I was the Mafia Don, and I had some power that instead of killing, someone on my Mafia team would tag a person, and I could even blow them up during daytime. But there was never any indication of what was really going on. Noone dies during night, is that because the target was saved by an Angel-like power? And when I blew someone up during the next day, the village didn't know if this was Mafia doing, some kind of daytime vig or what, as they would just get the message someone died.

I don't have any links right now, but if you're interested in some extra inspiration, you can probably google or look it up on wiki for more info. I liked that there was actually a system to ensure the balance of the game.

I hadnt included roleblocking or jailing in my game. In your opinion, where those fun mechanics to have? My first impression of them was that they were kinda antifun for most players

Also really my game isnt spoiled. Its just the idea of many many many specials and a large amount of uncertainty is the backbone of my game

edit to stop quadra post: Also, thats just 1/3 major things in my game. Its gonna be a huge shit storm of fun and randomness that should keep the game very exciting while still keeping the flow of the game in the hands of the players.

My initial question was because of having so many specials, i can easily work others in

Roleblocking was cool as a mechanic. It was basically the second power of the angel. So he could protect someone, but that would also roleblock his target. So he could either try to save someone (such as an outed seer), but then the protectee couldn't use his powers, or try to roleblock a suspected mafia out of his power (where protecting him was irrelevant).

And the mystery element is really good too, adds more suspense. As a Mafia I had ofcourse more information as I could converse with my 'family', but it was clear very soon something else was up, and there was indeed another team in the mix. We won't have enough players to have that as an option though I'm afraid.
