I think it has something to do with there being two teams of wolves. It's a lot harder to detect collusion amongst 3 players in a large group instead of 6.

If a villager is lynched today and two villagers get killed tonight then it's game over and the Vampires win.

I agree - I believe that, in the future, the game should end when either the village is eliminated or when the wolves and vampires are all eliminated.

Two scenarios:

village eliminated - whichever team between the wolves and vampires has more remaining members wins

vampires and wolves eliminated - the village wins

I believe there is a lot of merit in what you are saying, but I do feel that there could be exeptions. Consider the situation below:

Suppose there are 2 villagers, 2 vampires, and 1 wolf left in the game. The village is outnumbered, so under the current rules, the vampires would win instantly since they outnumber the wolves. But due to daytime voting, the wolves or village can still win, e.g.

vampire is lynched
wolf eats a vampire

and then we're down to: (I'm not sure how the order of play occurs at night, so I'll consider all possibilities)
- the vampire gets to act, and eats a villager: 1 villager and 1 wolf the next morning, wolves win
- the vampire gets to act, and eats a wolf: 2 villagers are all that remain once day breaks, a villager victory
- the vampires do not get to act: 2 villagers and 1 wolf still live, the outcome of the game is still uncertain.

Another possibility is

vampire is lynched
wolf eats a villager
vampire eats a villager

and then we're down to 1 vampire, and 1 wolf, resulting in a draw.

As long as either the wolves or the vampires do not make up half the villager population or more, I do believe that the results of play at that stage of the game is non-trivial.

To elaborate a bit more, in traditional werewolf games, the game ends once the wolves make up half the village because they control the voting at this point and the villagers have no recourse; even if the vig is still alive, the village is losing 2 people per day (lynch/eat) for every wolf that the vigilante is shooting (and that's assuming the vig doesn't miss).

pretty simple, as long as their are wolves and vampires the game should go on unless ofcourse all the villagers are alrdy dead or if the wolf/vampire count ends up being even.

The problem with the above is that all the Villagers can't be killed...the Angel survives no matter what as long as he protects himself..so the best the Wolves/Vamps can do is reduce the Village to a lone survivor and then be targeting each other, perhaps ending up in a stalemate with no clear winner.

It also presents the problem of moving responsibility for who gets lynched to the bad guys. In the minority, the Villagers can't lynch alone...they need the support of the Wolves/Vampires.The Wolves/Vampires have more information than the Angel. Reduce the Village to 1 player and both teams will know exactly who the opposition is, turning it into a game of convincing the Angel to lynch one or the other and piling on to close the deal.

Rules remain the same for this game.

^^^^ okay, but that's just stupid, 'cause then you just end up with a night phase where an equal number of wolves/vamps just cancel each other out (both die or neither dies) or unequal teams play out a foregone conclusion by killing off the minority team. Same thing if it carries over into another day phase. Majority wins regardless.

True. There are a bunch of weird situations that occur when the village is at less than half of the population.

What I'm concerned about now is that the wolftypes have a disincentive to target each other except at the endgame when the village has been thinned out. In fact, in the game we are playing right now, this is exactly what happened, and they openly colluded to no real consequence.

Though the village had it rough with 3 dying to the vigilante, I think we need to try a few more games with this format to see just how balanced it is.
