Awesome, just crunched some numbers, it seems the only way wolves can win is if they all survive to mayhem, and then the seer circle alternates wolf villager, allowing them to fakeclaim a wolf seer result on the remaining villagers. And even then they're 50-50, assuming there's no seer cleared villagers or uncountered specials.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

In fact it's not even 50-50... if we lynch a villager instead of a wolf, wolves don't win... so now it's 3/2 to wolves, but a villager dies, confirming his seer look up as wolf.

We've already won this I think.

i never really know what's going on in day 1, seems like a massive crapshoot. i think the mayhem thing and how it was brought up is really interesting tho

1) that I wasn't just joking. I was, jokes arnt funny when you have to explain them...but last game I cleared half the village super early
2) that I'm investing the usual amount of time into this game. I'm not. Work, a clinic, working for a law journal, probono crap, and regular class work on top of keeping some time for my bf mean lol werewolf.
3) that even if the above were not true, (they are, I've said this somewhere...), that I spent time considering mayhem. I haven't. Ive yet to check if you're right either.

Now, if we could all just lynch the ppl that look different this game will really get going. Consider that deadwlof is set in the 1800 or 1900s. Boog would never survive! Lynch him, its your historically accurate duty!

Ongs thoughts are right, I think it should be fixed. I think come mayhem only the first seer pm should count. All others can be played as is but his circle idea works for ending the game. Does this make him a wolf for noticing he can't win or a villager for pointing out the innacuracy to the end game I can't tell yet. Leaning wolf, but it's also to obvious. Making it a great wolf play.

Dan, if I'm a wolf, it's not a great wolf play simply because I'm putting myself forward as the ldfo nom for tonight. So if I'm a wolf, how do I explain my being alive? Maybe they leave me for a day so they can try to get me lynched, but they won't leave me for long because no-one else seems to be thinking about mayhem and how to fuck the wolves. I'm either a villager who gets dead very soon, or a wolf that gets lynched when I don't get nommed. So not a great wolf play imo.

I hope you survive the night because I'd very much enjoy having a duel with you, for making me think hard about strat on day 1 if nothing else.

Okay, I'll share the pro-town part of it. I definitely think the town should policy lynch anyone who challenges anyone to a duel, especially when it gets to mayhem. Like, lynch them immediately, the day that the challenge happens to prevent the duel altogether.

I don't see how anyone will challenge anyway unless they are heavy into a bandwagon to be lynched. Then they are probably going to get lynched anyway. Policy lynching may not be necessary. That said, I would love to see how no repercussions like a policy lynch will effect the duelling

I don't think being against a heavy bandwagon to be lynched is the only time a wolf would duel. I won't say much more than that. If the policy ends up being null, then so be it, but that's not really a con for having the policy in place.

I hate to mention this now, but since there's no angel, I feel like it's a bad idea to horde information. Once it gets to mayhem, we should probably leave a ~12 hour buffer between the deadline and finalizing a lynch.

But let us not waste the day away talking strat. Back to wolf hunting!

what if a villager was convinced that another villager was going to be lynched, is there any benefit doing a duel there on a suspected wolf who is more suspected than the challenging villager?

I felt like it shoulda been mentioned before we got in the situation. If we establish the policy now, then we enforce the policy when it comes up. If we wait for the situation to come up, then I feel (not certain) that it would mostly just be a standard lynch/don't lynch argument with an added strat reason to lynch that person, and the person could wiggle out of it, especially if:

1) It's against deadline, which it might be if we don't stay organized and try to avoid that scenario, and

2) The person can win people over by claiming village idiot (and as you say, in that scenario it would be "retarded wolf"/village idiot anyway, so it would be a legitimate claim). Takes a much bolder village idiot to break an established village policy.

And again, the fact that there's no angel and I've been vocal makes me more apt to jump the gun.

None of this means that I'm 100% certain that I was right to blather about it, but I do feel pretty certain that now that it's out there, we should leave no wiggle room.

Lynching on Day 1 is a crap shoot, but that doesn't mean Day 1 is unimportant. It's still important to have a productive, pro-villager day. Let's say, hypothetically, that we all took the first day as a silly crap shoot. Everyone says, "Lol fart joke, I vote Boog because that's what we always do," and you get lynched with not real reasoning from anyone, and then the sun comes up and Ong's nommed. Well.....now what? What information do we have to go on? The lynch gives us no information and the nom gives us no information. Now we're in Day 1 Redux.

The best way to handle Day 1 is to not get bogged down by the impossibility of getting good leads on day 1 and still talk, force others to talk. Basically what wolves do on Day 1 is play a mistake-free game (which is easy on Day 1), so inevitably some blathermouth villager who misread the rules or some stupid shit that no wolf would ever do gets strung up. The best way to combat this is to put pressure on people, make it as hard and low eV as possible to coast, force people to bold names, get people to provide reasoning, hold them accountable for not providing reasoning, and so that on Days 2 we have content to refer to so we can have a good day, and then on Day 3, we have an all-the-more-productive Day 2 to refer to, etc, until the case hopefully narrows enough that we have easy options.

Then, we string up a wolf eventually, and HOORAY there are actually Day 1 associations to refer to because we actually forced people to talk instead of being all "Lol Day 1."

I'm kinda hoping people do that, considering how good it was last game. I'm not investing the time to do anything this time though. No mo hand holding, I'm just here to troll and soulread.
