    Default Winners Circle

This will help me keep up with the topic in IRC.

    Just post:

    Name:
Tournament played (buy-in, type of game, rebuy, etc)
Winnings: How much made or a seat in another.

I will recognize everyone in the topic in irc if it is worthy such as a final table appearance ect.

This way we all can congratulate the winners and see what FTR is so good for.

Ya it was a sweet pot for the investment. Stars has a regular $5 + .50 rebuy everyday around 6pm EST now. It's turning up around the same pot sizes if not more every day.

    Corey sez: aggressive
I agree kinda... Agression is how to beat a bad player, or the only realistic strategy when the blinds are high.

but flat out aggression is a a coin flip at best against another aggressive or good player. It very much depends on the blind size in ratio to your stack. Aggression is the pefect move, if you can tilt your opponent, but this is not always the case.

If the blinds are LOW (like you each have 100XBB), then they are basically not worth stealing. I can lay down to your aggression until I hit two face cards or a pair and push back. If you are raising 75% of the time, chances are I have a better hand than you.

I think what you want to do is be very flexible. Agression is a good play to start, but what if they are just as aggressive as you? You can take your coinflip or try to out play them. I think the most important rule in heads-up is to avoid being read. If this means you have to limp a bunch of times after you raise every hand, so be it. All you have to do to win at heads up is to get him to think you are bluffing ONCE when you have the goods (can be as weak as a mid-pair post flop). If you are breaking even stealing each others blinds - see a few flops and try to out play him there.

The other thing to remember, and this is pretty obvious - you don't need AK to have a good hand heads up! Any ace, 2 high cards, hell, even K7o is better than average heads up.

6 people left...I get screwed by a guy sucking out an inside straight over my two pair. Leaves me with 305 dollars. Blinds are 100-50 and I am one off the blind. Next hand, I get TT...all in, one caller with two over cards. My tens hold up. Next hand AK, allin again...I draw a king and beat the guy with pocket 8s. Few hands later I double up again with queens.

I won the whole thing later on when I sucessfully sniffed out an all-in bluff.

    Target Tournament #5647765 Buy-In: $215.00
34 tickets to the target tournament
    Tournament started - 2005/03/12 - 20:00:00 (ET)

    Dear Operandi,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
You qualified to play in Tournament #5647765 and are automatically registered for it.

    On a side note:

This was a turbo tournament, the blinds rose every 5 minutes.

We're on the bubble, 36 players remaining, hand for hand play is active, 35th place pays $200, 34th and above a $215 ticket to the target tournament.

Blinds $12000/$6000, ante $600, I'm in the big blind with $20952 prior to posting. The level is going up very soon. I should be able to make it (I can take $12000+$6000 and probably survive until at least one other player busts out) if it weren't for the fact that people at my table constantly get disconnected and that hand for hand play is causing a lag.

    I get dealt [5c 9h].

Everybody folds to the small blind who's sitting on a $70117 stack. He calls.

The flop comes [Qs 2d 7s]

The small blind bets $12000, I fold.

The blinds go up to $20000/$10000, ante $1000...

    ...Still 36 players remaining...

I'm all in in the small blind with $7352.

    I get dealt [5h 9c] (59 again!...).

Everybody except the big blind folds.

    He turns over [Tc Th].

    *** FLOP *** [9s Kh 9d]
    *** TURN *** [9s Kh 9d] [As]
    *** RIVER *** [9s Kh 9d As] [Jh]

    Poker in it's truest form...

First final table ever on pokerstars and earned $231 from a $3 buyin. Maaaad props go out to rippy who was kind enough to give me a call and help me through it from medium stack to small stack to big stack and back again. Even if I didn't win it all, the experience was extremely educational. I feel like writing more but I desperately need sleep...thanks again rip (if he offers to call any of you up and walk you through a tourny, accept without hesitation).
