Default So I just won a 530$ ticket to the Poker Maximus Main Event....

I took 11th out of 4785. Won a ticket to the 530$ BI Poker Maximus Main Event on Carbon Poker. WTF do I do now? I'm going on vacation to Cali May 7th-13th. ME takes place on May 12th. While it would be fun to play..freerollin. I'm not nearly confident in my tourney game to play it. I'll have to play it the day before I leave Cali if I did. I dunno what to do.

I'd like to exchange the ticket for cash if I can but from what I understand that's not possible. Anybody know if that's true? If it's not how do I go about doing so? If it is I guess I just play and hope to luckbox a score??

First of all congratulations on winning the ticket. Very well done getting to 11th in such a big field. I have been in a similar situation on a few occassions now with tickets raning up to $640 and every time I played the games. It is not ideal if you are away but these games a great opportunity to learn. I have heard a few people saying that the play is not any better at at that level and these games are just played by players who can afford to enter. That is not the case. It is a better standard but that provides you with a great opportunity to learn. It is hard not too be intimidated in games like this but if you adopt the view that you are there for no outlay that should help. If you really do not want to play maybe you could get someone you trust to play for you and split any winnings. Or maybe you could sell some shares to get some cash against the ticket. Having said that selling shares can put some people under even more pressure as you are then playing for others as well as yourself. Good luck whatever you do.

    Moved the post for you

WeaselT, I'm pretty sure you'll have to play. However bad you think you are, your EV will be higher playing than not playing and letting ticket expire.

Right, I won't let it expire. I guess I was just wondering if there was any other way to get some value for the ticket other than playing it. Not wanting to spend my last night of vacation in front of the PC in a tourney I likely won't even cash in. Meh....need some rungood.

Tom made a good point, is there anyone you trust enough to give them your carbon login?

Nah, not really. I thought I heard of something on Stars or somewhere that you could register for the tourney, then unregister and money would be credited to your account. Anybody know if that's true and would work possibly on Carbon?

Not for tickets, only for tournaments you've won entry to. Even then, you're credited in T$, not as cash. If it's a ticket satellite you'll have a must use ticket - they have them on Stars and FTP too

I wouldn't want to play poker on holiday either.

Actually, it would kinda depend on how sick I am of the wife and kids by that point. It could be just the excuse I needed to hide away from the madness.
