Default New "Multi Prize Pool" Tournament Type

Debuting at Dusk Til Dawn (biggest live poker room in the UK) next week on the 10th and designed by Roberto Romanello, it's an interesting idea.

The idea is 3 different buyin levels - low, medium and high. An image from the press release:

What do you guys think of it?

In my opinion, it's just not going to work. Collusion is a problem, starting stacks are the same and as a player in for all 3 prize pools would value X chips more highly than a player just in for the cheapest buy-in final table chip dumping deals become much more profitable.

It's also confusing. The highest buyin prize pool might be won with 3 tables left in a big tournament, but if there are two of you left how will you know who is the other guy left in so you can adjust your play accordingly? I guess coloured t-shirts might work but that's a lot of effort...

Then again, on the plus side a big event might give players a chance to play with guys who normally only play 10ks+. That's the only real advantage I can think of

I'm very confused by the math on the graph. if 15 players buy in for £100 then why is the prizepool £7K? And where is the £50 buy ins?

edit: Oh wait. Is the £100 involved in all 3 prize pools?

Might work better online to avoid the possible collusion, but isn't there enough varieties out there?

    Yeah, the buyins aren't £25 + £50 + £100, it's £25 + £25 + £50. They say it's only double to limit collusion, which is kinda true I guess. A £25 + £100 + £400 would make collusion really profitable if you chip dumped from P1 only to P1+2+3, but there's still a good incentive to chip dump.

Not sure if playing it online would make it harder to collude.

Other thing I didn't think about is that 3 bubbles is going to mean a lotttttt of hand for hand.

    Wow... really confusing.

Are there 3 bubbles then? So top 10% in each of three pool gets paid?

Wouldn't be too hard to have some peeps chip dump their $25 stacks to the $100's stacks. Would be like the $100 players have the opportunity to make rebuys for $25.

From the players perpective, I wouldn't mind sitting as $25 player. But as a $100 player, I would fear the collusion from the above type scenario and stay away.

Considering the confusion... have they tested the model at all prior to issuing the release? Sounds like its gonna a be a huge disaster, and Dusk til Dawn will have an awful PR mess in their hands.

I run my own marketing firm, so I can't help by take it from that perspective.

Yea this seems like an awful idea. Far too confusing and there are major collusion issues which I think are pretty transparent. I like the idea of trying something fresh but I would be astounded if this actually became popular. Just like that stupid game with 2 cards and a flop and such!
