Default JGB: Back to SNGs - Any Questions?

Some of you here remember me from back before there was a separate SNG forum. Some of you will recognize my name from a tool you use frequently. And a few of you (you know who you are and I'm not gonna tell!) turned down offers to do videos for my training site.

If I mentioned you above: I'm back to SNGs for a while.

To everyone else: Hi. It's nice to meet you.

I focused on SNGs exclusively early in my poker career. I always preached playing fewer tables of regular speed games, because doing so well let me maintain a 20+% ROI up to stakes I could no longer readily find games. I also never used SNG Wiz, because of the limitations of range selection. Well, all that has changed.

The main reason I'm returning to the game/format is to train for STT satellites at the WSOP. In doing that, I'm going to have to abandon the normal speed games I love so much. The blind structure at the WSOP will much more closely resemble a turbo, so I need to make the adjustment now, and work on my tactics accordingly. Thus I'm currently 10-tabling the $16s, barely paying attention to reads, and just trying to use the best SNG-format play I can. I will be using SNG wiz to evaluate, and will post interesting hands here.

    Cheers!
    - Jeffrey "JGB146" Blake

P.S. I've spent so much time away from these parts that part of me feels I owe everyone something...so I'll use this as a "Ask Me Whatever & I'll Answer The Best I Can" thread.

Welcome back Jeffrey, it's good to have you here! Good luck with the STT satellites when you play them.

Once you've played a few hundred SNGs, I'd be interested to see how you think the game has changed since you started out in them, particularly since SNGs are widely considered to be the most "solved" of all the formats with the advent of SNGPT and Wiz.

    Hiya Jeffery,

Look forward to hearing how it goes. I'd ask a question but I just can't think of anything
    Blah blah Op Blah blah

I'm curious why you want to play terrible structure WSOP sats?

It's going to be a bit hard to judge this, since I'm now hyper-tabling the turbos, whereas I used to play 4 or less tables at regular speed. That said, I'll be sure to give you my impression.

My backer took a big hit this year and regards these as a cheaper way to put me into some of the events.

What site a are choosing to play on? After playing a lot on FT and PS, I'm finding the greatest difference in skill is not in the stakes, but in the poker site!

I'm playing turbos on Stars b/c the structure is closest to what I expect to find in the WSOP sats.

You're definitely right that site is a big factor when determining skill.
