Default ITT I have perfect info but don't know what to do

Live $235 at Caesars, 3 tables left, 9 get paid. I think we had 8 at the table.

    lol live poker

Villain is 60-75 lady, from LA but has thick Russian accent. Very chatty. Has played very passively, limp folding pre etc. Once (it may have been after this hand) she got all in with 98s on a 9x7s2s board. Before she turned over her hand, she said "I have nothing". She did not seem to be kidding/intentionally slow rolling.

Anyway, she is on my right in the SB.

Rando dork just moved to table min opens from MP.

I am watching her when the action comes to her, and she lifts her hand absurdly high so I can't help but see it's the

    I have

    and call.

Russian has ~30K or so, I cover. Blinds are 800/1600/200

    flop (~11,000 in pot)

I opt to lead for 6.1k.

    Rando folds.

Imagine my surprise when the old lady peels with her gutter+overs!

turn (~23,000 in pot, eff stack ~20k)

    She checks. I?

Checking seems wrong since I'm giving her a free draw to the nuts, although at least I won't have to pay her off! Also she has 6 outs to make a pair so maybe I let her do that? But assuming she's mostly playing for the gutter our last chance for value is OTT..?

I don't see this type of player bluffing the river often if you check back turn, so I'd throw out something like 8k. Shoving turn could be better vs some people but if I had to guess I would think the majority of weaker players would still fold to a shove.

    1. Laugh nervously and ask her if she has 98 again.
    2. Tank a bit then bet 6.1K again.
    3. Assuming she checks a non-J river, min-bet. Unless it's a Q or T, in which case I'd bet half her remaining stack.

I would be fine with checking if we had a chance of stacking off on the non-J. But old lady's don't like stacking off to potsized bets. I like betting another 5-6k here. If she folds, oh well, but I doubt she will since you are still leaving her with like 15k. If she binks her T or Q (no J no J no J dance in your head as well) we have a decent shot of getting the rest of her stack. Otherwise at least we got some more value.

If it wasn't one of those old dears who doesn't bluff often I'd like checking. idk, I guess your min bet is 6.1k so I'd bet that whilst saying "same 6.1k" or something.

She's chatty, and if you'd been chatting with her I'd be trying to bring some of that back in. "you and me again eh?" that sort of thing.
This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

I agree with betting 6-8k. Q river one time

OK, I am glad we all agree. I bet 6.1k again. She says "I think you betting small with something beeg!" and folds. Not every day you get soul read by rich Russian lady.

Damn you all beat me to it. I was totally going to say make the exact same bet, even say "same bet". For some reason live players never seem to fold to bets like this. If she peeled once, she will probably peel it again, and we know she isn't getting the right odds.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

Very rarely. Especially in tournaments. I definitely need to be more sociable so people will give me more action :P

I (try and) chat outside of hands, but not in them. So many places have no talking during hand rules during tourneys I have just gotten used to saying nothing. Def +EV to have people like you at the table.

    Default No Same Bet

I disagree with a previous poster regarding 'same bet'... why? because, at least in the tournies i play (mostly 100 entry, 60-100 participants), when a person says 'same bet' or even simply makes the same bet street after street, in MOST cases they are either (a) weak, or (b) totally missed the street just shown.... just for the helluva it, during a one month span (probably 15-20 tournies), i traced how many times i heard/saw a player say/do 'same bet', and for those times where the hand went to SD, i noted the bettors hand.... more than 90% of the time, they were weak or reaching for draws....

Then surely this would be a great spot to make a same bet to give off the image of being weak when we infact have the nuts?

fancy doing a little old russian lady out of her hard earned chips, shame on u .LOL LOL. bet she got to the final table

    Sick bump.

BTW, I like the "same bet" in PLO, when you have the nuts on the turn and get called and somehow have the nuts on the river.

    Default yup

LOL... TOTALLY agree with this... in fact, i did a similar 'tracking' exercise and when all was said and done, indeed, the players using the phrase 'same bet' were weak the vast majority of times... now, whenever i hear it, i'm on auto-pilot (almost) and raise it up no matter my holdings.........

I would normally check in this situation if I did not know her cards. The rainbow on the board cannot hurt you, trying for value and having a straight, I would hope for a non-duplicate card so she would not full house my straight.

But, since her cards are known, and she is chasing a jack for a higher straight, a check is wrong like you said. Something is needed to make
her uncomfortable , like being too expensive to chase one more card.
I think if I continuation bet, she might be willing to call my raise or she would re-reraise. I would do the all-in instead and hope she folds.

Urgh, please ignore everything in the above post. You're not betting for it to be "too expensive to chase one more card", you're betting small enough for her to call with a gutshot+two overs but big enough to get maximum value/make her call minus EV.

Shoving is the worst idea I've ever heard.
