    Default hand critique.

i put this guy on AQ, AJ or even QQ, JJ preflop with his call. with the flop call i put him on the draw. should i have bet more on the flop? guess i should have known better when he led after the turn. now that i look at it more closely, maybe this was a bonehead move on my part.

    why not lead the turn?

The only hands that beat you here are AA , AT and A4. I really dont think that it was that bad.

What draw do you put him on that he would have hit on the turn?

I think that you should lead out on the turn and if he pushes over you, then you can fold out. Its a tough play that leaves you with little chips left.

Tough one with that board, I think lead with the turn bet and see what he does as your ahead of most hands he may call with, checking to him leaves you with a crap decision Fold or Push.

If he re raises fold, if he calls... I'd probably check fold the river.

I hate AK early in the SnGs, too many people will still call with Ace rag and hit 2 pair or my pet hate, the Wheel straight.

i like check/calling the turn, especially if you are willing to go broke with TPTK. let him bluff at you and you make more chips, or go broke against a ten like you seem to want to do anyway.

well i guess the decision is whether or not ur putting ur tourney into tptk.
In an 800 chipper it oftem times isnt a bad decision to just go balls out with AK on an Ace high flop becuase more ofhten than not you have someone calling you down with a lower kicker.

    I guess ur options are
bet the turn and be able to fold out, this limits your risk and return.
check/call the turn and either make more chips or get knocked out.

What does everyone think about his $100 flop bet with TPTK and no flush/straight draw in sight? It seems soft but in all likelihood he's way ahead and wants to get another round of betting out of this guy?

with TPTK wiht a weak board, im sure you just want to strangle the guy for more money.

So yes, it was a weak bet to draw in more money.

OK maybe not an OSED but considering any broadway probably makes either a str8 or two pair for a calling hand I'd bet a little harder.

I tend to agree with Gabe that if you continue to bet you likely only get called by a hand you beat, but check calling gets you more chips from AQ. One of those spots where "If you're going to call, bet" doesn't apply. Been trying to work it into my game more and it's often effective, hard for me because I love aggression.

thanks for the comments. i made a mistake in my description of the hand......i meant to say that after the call of my flop bet, i added the possibility that he was on the draw to what i had put him on preflop. but it was a long shot IMO.

i don't really like AKo for this very reason, but if i get an A or K, i am good to go with it. if i could replay this hand i think i would bet more after the flop. i was indeed weak betting hoping he held Ax. the 10 on the turn wasn't great, but i was going to push this one no matter what. i figured if he was in there with a 10, i was just going to have to lose my money.

drmcboy, you think i should have check/called instead of check/raised?

Based on the chips at the start of this hand and the blinds.. this looks like it was the third hand of a PP tourney, no?

I'd have to agree with Rubix13, idea about the flop bet being a bit soft... This early in a SnG tourney it's my notion that making a strong play like this is very dangerous, since there are still fish at the table and guys dumb enough to chase/call with second pair (with an ace on the board no less), after a pf-raise.

I know that stronger players than I can squeeze every bit of advantage they have... trying to build a pot whenever possible. And as far as scary boards go I'd say this is pretty tame with TPTK. Still, this early in a tourney I'd rather take what chips I can get (by which I mean making a pot-sized bet on the flop) while trying not to get myself into a position where I'm either crippled or totally out of the tournament (getting drawn on by some guy who can't calculate odds).

Maybe that's over tight.. but I have had good success so far (N < 30, so feel free to ignore if you wish...) playing this way early. At a 5 handed table I think this is perfectly fine.. also great if you flop a stronger hand than TPTK.
